Title: Veer- Sunk Sales (RPD)
Post by: tab62 on November 28, 2012, 12:31
Is it just me? My sales are 1/3 of last year's sales and the sad thing is that my portfolio has doubled in size from the year ago. I noticed that my RPD is down as well. I had 26 sales for $206 and this year 45 sales for $79. More downloads but wimpy prices...

I don't sell there either but maybe it's because they have f*cked with all my keywords.  If you search for ringette player for example you will not find a single photo on Veer even though I have them in my portfolio.  Search ringette player and you get mountain climbers, soccer players, girls on swings, kids running on the beach with surfboards - but no ringette players.  But hey, I could sure use a woman in headphones laying with her head on a man's lap if I was promoting a ringette tournament.  That would really get the point across.

I could put the word hockey in because it is played in a hockey rink with the same net the hockey players use and a lot of the same gear - but then I would be a spammer.

They remove the keywords figure skater" from photos with girls  figure skates, with makeup and hair for performing, a glittery skating costume  - but still doesn't qualify as a figure skater.  I'm not sure what category those girls should go to - maybe farming or Christmas?

It's a miracle that I've had a sale at all if they are made through keywords.

Hilarious.   ;D

These agencies have played so many crazy convoluted games with 'search' that current results could only be interpreted in terms of chaos theory.   Yes it's tough to run a business selling photos without, let's say,  actually knowing what's in the photos so you could give customers what they want.   But that would take time and cost money, just like if you were some Neanderthal running a bricks-and-mortar store.   Better to hang in there and wait for the AI researchers to come up with software to solve the problem for you.

The sad part is that when you try to contact them- good luck! Yet, other non Top Tier companies (Such as Duncan on CanStockPhoto) respond quickly and usually very helpful on their replies...
