Title: Video CSV Questions
Post by: jjneff on December 02, 2015, 17:57
Feel free to message me on this. I am looking for a good csv template I can use for SS, Pond5 and others. can I build one template for all? if not which should I use and the best way to modify it for other sites.  Thanks.  Yes looking at the non-exclusive route.

most agencies have a template and you can use it across several agencies

just use the headers and it should be working for ss p5 and vb etc

The headers are different for each site what is the best work around or will the site ignore the extra boxes

I use one master file with most of the information on the first sheet and then have sheets for each agency with their respective columns. I just put formulas into the other sheets so they automatically get all their information from the first sheet.

The best thing is use Expressions Media for your master captioning/keywording program. It has many many options to output the metadata in whatever order you want from which you can generate CSVs very easily for any agency.

It works for all kinds of media. There is a glitch with one codec at 4k I have seen which may be an issue. There are workarounds for this but other than that it's quite nice. I find it becomes the central hub for distribution since its easy to drag whatever media you want off to an ftp uploader. I wish there were one really good asset management system. It sure isn't Lightroom.
