I don't sell many videos, but I've sold one so far this June as a "cart sale" and the amount I received for it was $35.80, which is higher than any cart sale I've ever received in the past (they've ranged from $20 to $30. Of course, I haven't sold many videos to begin with (maybe around thirty total), so I don't really have much to compare it to, but given the circumstances I was surprised to see that it was higher (I should be in 20% tier for video, whereas in the past it was always 30%). Maybe it was some kind of extended license or something?

Anybody else had a similar experience? Or has the amount you all have received been going down as expected?

Yes... they've stopped, since the 6th June. Mixed stills/footage port, majority stills but still normal make $200-$300 a month (from footage).

I thought it was just me:)

Is it a coincidence or have clients moved elsewhere because of what has gone on at SS this month.

It's likely buyers have shifted over to Pond 5. Seems like a large number of us have gone exclusive there for the 60% commissions and ability to set your own pricing.

This will be related to the problems at Shutterstock and their refusal to negotiate with their contributors.

Find out more on the Crafted Shutter videos on YouTube - he has a good handle on this.

Sorry if sales are down at SS - but * you are going to make so much more at Pond 5 and Adobe if we all keep this up.

Yes, I deactivated all my photos on SS and have not uploaded any new content to them. Pond5 and Adobe are are best bet in town. I am very willing to take some pain
for long term gains. The way SS is going video will be at 25cents per download very soon!

Yeah, lets experience Hyperstock v2.0 or another P5 /AS conflict our P5 files competing with our own files.

People seem having a short-memory sometimes either uninformed. With all respect to you efforts @CommuniCat

Yes, this is exactly the view we took too. Take the pain now for more options later. Or sit in that SS pot as it starts to boil. The situation may not be perfect, but it's all looking far better than the sh*t we were all in at the beginning of June. A lot can happen in 22 days.

People need to realize just how bad this deal is! and if you think you are good now welcome to January!! When their Staff takes a 50% pay cut in January then they can come talk to me! You see the pain is just starting and the good new is you don't have to take it!!! I am uploading amazing exclusive footage to Pond5 right now!

I am experiencing January NOW. My work is no mas;). Honestly I am looking for a new home for "certain" clips (probably go exclusive on P5 with some) and some of my more creative stills (which I will apply at Stocksy and see what happens).  That is for starters, but even though I have given up on SS, I have NOT GIVEN UP ON EXPOSING THEM.  We need to tighten the screws, to your point.

Actually it was a very good month for me, but I deactivated my port at 15 June as I'm very concerned about the future of video sales with the introduction of video subscriptions and these completely unfair new earnings breakdown

Forget Shutterstock. Once a company slashes and disrespects contributors the way they have done, with no answer to the plead of thousands of their content providers you can only expect bad things on the future. Cut the loses now to recover as fast a you can in alternative agencies.

My 15 years experience with stock sites is that once they go down this road 99% they will tighten the screws more and more along the way.

The good things is that there still options to move your content. Take the chance while you can so you will not repent later.

So to understand this, those who still have their portfolios up at Shutterstock are getting poor sales anyway? So despite a fair chunk of video competition turning their portfolios off, those that stay on are not getting sales anyway?

Here is another perspective @CommuniCat

Personally stopped uploading after their announcement but left port active. I had second thoughts on activation deactivation of ports and how this affects not performance but my "relationship" with SS, check the T&C. I then passed to the phase "should i delete everything?" Counting losses mainly of time spend but i see very few people doing it by attitude. Most just deactivate and shout waiting to reactivate. Then yesterday, Oringer said "it feels like 2003" and i thought, dude, great, i have lots of unsold outdated work to feed you. And that is my current mind status, deleting in time whatever i consider good work or sells elsewhere and feeding them old unsold files. I believe it is business overall and i got a great unsold stock of ...stock.

People thinking they will steal our sales by us leaving are delusional.

Eventually their sales might go up slightly because buyers will have far les choice with continuous deactivation of our portfolio's so when they are looking for a "smiling woman working out" an "angry man doing dishes" might suffice :)

Everyone is replaceable, sure but with what?

This is spot on and I don't know why people are still figuring out what to do. The longer we wait the less we will succeed at other agencies. In my case it's Adobe. As far as I can tell buyers still get a fair price, we get a fair cut and Adobe gains huge market share so win for everyone. That goes for Pond5 as well but we need their support as well should they want to succeed at selling images. For clips it's a no brainer, probably the best out there.
If we stay in the middle then we will lose at both agencies.
Like many have told us we need to guide the buyers. This doesn't work if we continue to spread our work around just to make a few extra bucks. Buyers will just stay with SS.

I'm at level 3 in video and by now I see a drop in earnings of 30% - 40% let's wait for the EOM to see.

they now pay me 25%, before 30%

the videos are now reviewed in a few minutes and this is probably because few people are uploading.

Anyway is the contributors follow the earnings, the customers follow the contents, and probably Adobe will be the new market leader for pictures and Pond5 for videos.

Adobe is making a good review of our contents, they never refuse something without any sense.

Pond5 is accepting too many videos for its lower customer base, a better selection should be better, but probably they now want to reach Shutterstock videos amount to compete better.

I got close today. 34 cents for a clip sale!

After the first week of June I thought I will probably deactivate my images by the end of the month but hold on to my SS Video Portfolio until the end of the year, because June started really well. But since then nothing until this 'glorious' 34 cent sale today. That's the last nail in the coffin for me. I will at least deactivate the whole lot after the next payment.

Surprisingly the number of image sales for June is already much higher then in the last 12 months, though. The RPD however is ridiculous, as expected. Looks like buyers still get what they want for probably outrageous low rates.

SS is still my top selling agency, but financially it wouldn't hurt that much, because I don't rely on stock-income. Just disappointing that it has to end like this. Unfortunately for me Adobe can't step in to take over SS rank. Mysteriously my sales at Adobe dropped this month by around 80%!

Take care fellow folks and colleagues!

Rob

I was getting quite a few clip and cart sales in the $20-$30 range throughout June.

Then a few days ago they stopped, and now I'm seeing nothing but $1.00 Clip Pack sales.

Anyone else seeing these?

SS topped it overnight. 5 clips for $2.67 all together ... that's it! Definitely!  >:(
