Strange, unless I missed something. I just sold an image there for $2.70. Normally it's .50/1.00/2.00 etc. Anyone else notice this? Thanks...

Hi All,

I just got a letter from Shutterstock asking if I want to have all my Shutterstock images available on Big Stock as well. No charge they will move all the files over and sell through both ports. They said they are only offering this to their best selling photographers, I do okay but I can't imagine I am one of their top sellers. Did anyone else get this e-mail and if so what do you think about it. They say Big stock sells on credit basis as apposed to Shutterstocks sub model. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Jonathan - no I do Okay - Im sure you sell way more than most of us.
I've been on BS for years - slow seller,  but what the heck if they are going to do the work for you it's easy money.
I joined the Bridge to BigStock several months ago when they asked to transfer the rest of my port over. There was a difference of some 1500 images between the 2 portfolios now they mirror each other. and sales seem to be up there the last few months.

I haven't been invited but may refuse anyway;  BigStock accepts a lot of stuff that gets rejected at Shutterstock.  And, it sells.   :P

I've been getting weird sales where the commissions don't match what it says I have.  They're off by like 1 cent.  Weird.  I'm already at Big Stock.  Slow seller just wish things would pick up there a bit more.

Yes...got my letter last week.  It took a few days to migrate all my files and they notified me when the transfer was complete.

I contacted them a while back on this and their reply was they know about it and are looking into it. It has something to do with currency conversions I think.

Same here. It happened twice to me and I notified support and they corrected it. I'm betting it has to do with their posted prices. RE: .99, 2.99 etc

Hi,

I got that email too, and was surprised to be included into the "best sellers" bunch...

Have you been able to join the program? I'm having problems with my links to the join page and still couldn't join it unfortunately.

Regards.

I haven't been invited but may refuse anyway;  BigStock accepts a lot of stuff that gets rejected at Shutterstock.  And, it sells.   :P

They're not deleting what's already there, just filling holes (and perhaps sometimes duplicating files but that just seems like a bonus to me).

I'm wondering more about new uploads than what is there. I have quite a few more images at BS than at SS.  Does the Bridge lock you into uploading through only SS?  Would I be allowed to upload SS rejects to BS?  Does the Bridge work both ways?  IE: would Shutterstock transfer (correlate) images from BS; accept all my BS file into the SS catalog?

Upload times are not a factor.  I'm retired.   ;D

Senior Moment Warren? Did you see the link I posted above with most of it explained?

Yeah, but you are only meant to upload through SS hereafter. So "bridge" contributors will not "benefit" from laxer inspections. Might benefit from better search engine position though, who knows?

Maybe more than a Moment, Race.  I still don't see an answer there?

If that is the answer, I definitely want no part of it.   :P

OK Maybe I'm having the Senior Moment, I believe I'm still older than you. ;)

NO - the bridge does not send BigStock images to SS. And NO you aren't limited to only what you send to SS. Although it's much easier to just send to one place and have them for sale on two?

And this part which we had in PM, might as well add it to the forum. "As of 2010, Shutterstock and Bigstock have begun integrating their content review teams and weve adopted shared review standards and training. " But I still find BigStock a little more forgiving. Maybe it has to do with getting more content of some types onto BS?

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback. In the letter it also said they will transfer every file I have at SS to Bigstock no editing. Still want to know if there are any other opinions thanks everyone.

Best,
Jonathan

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply. I think I will go ahead and agree I don't really see what there is to lose.

Thanks,
Jonathan

@JR

I'd have dumped Bigstock ages ago but since they put me in the 'bridge' program when it started all I do now is log in once a month or so and get my payout, I suggest you opt in because it involves no work to do so, just don't expect anything spectacular in the way of sales.

Thanks RT,

I went ahead and agreed like you said it might not be a lot of money but every bit helps especially if you just have to click a button.

Best,
J
