Title: what's new and exciting. or old and exciting for you?
Post by: willie on August 06, 2009, 18:44
Just wondering if anyone of you have anything exciting lately. Big changes in your downloads. Something wonderful with a new site eg. Veer, Vetta, BettathanVetta.
Or something old that has been revive from the dead.

I will start.
I had a rather wonderful surprise at Dreamstime. My new images are not moving at all, but my old works have picked up a bit of attention. My latest being a dl for a "really old" image for 1.50$ which isn't bad after a spell of xx cents mostly.

I know it would be nice to see some dls with my new work, but so long as I am getting dls, I am quite content to keep active at Dreamstime.

Dead zone? Well, Stockxpert is more or less rigor mortis. I am not even bothering to check there anymore. I don't think I will even reach payout. So
no Guinness for me in the offing. But who knows maybe I make up for it via Dreamstime once the summer hols is over.

Other than that, Veer has been a non starter, even though my acceptance is very good.  I have try BettathanVetta, but I like to give John some support.
As for Vetta, well... I am not eligible, but I like to hear from those who are doing well. I hope it will do well , for the good of all contributors.
No matter what we say here , for or against, we are all really looking for the same thing... better pay for our images.

We can dream, I guess. Let's hope Dreamstime is not quite over yet. ha!ha!...
but instead show that dreaming does help to improve sales,...
at Dreamstime at least, ha!ha!

Cheers. Kick arse... but play fair ! It is after all only a bar brawl... not the end of the world.  As old Who Pete Townsend used to say, we're Rough Boys, but The Kids are Alright!

I am with Shutterstock that give me sales as usual , with no big move or surprise there. There was one big surprise for me at ScanStockPhoto that I got 3 Euro .
This is good of course to get paid in Euro. Bigstockphoto is regular more or less.
Only Shutterstock give me constant sales.

cidepix grasshopper, now...
don't go poetic or Zen with me   :D

would you care to be a little more specific, and leave the Zen Shakepeare bit for another forum, lol.

For me:

Veer very exciting. 4 quick sales first week. Promising.

IStock still good. Odd thing there: Huge sales one day (stats page) but not shown on downloads page. Emailed them about it but no response so far.

SS slow this month.
DT good
StockXpert super slow.

Yay? Must have closed shop around January 2009.
Big Stock still moribund.
FeatureP. Are they still running?

Good point there about FP Louoates, I think those last changes to the site did them more harm than good, the place has gotten so empty that you can hear an echo everytime you log in.  ;)

Huge in dollar amount? or in number of downloads? Did you check your EL report?

Whatalife,

Example: a recent day showed 10 downloads and $45.66 on the stats user_view page. But on the my_uploads page for the same day showed only 6 downloads and about $12 in income.

Does the my_uploads page not show ELs? If not I can't find where to see them. I do see under Extended Licenses a Total royalty column but no way to see when those royalties occurred. Any ideas?

Sure. Go to your profile page and click on your Financials tab. On the right, there is a links that says "View extended license earnings" that will take you to a list of all the details. :)

hope that helps!

 Hey Perseus Who,

Great post! I just added Cutcaster to my group and they made a $4 sale and a $6 sale  (my return ) in the first couple days. Besides that it is all about motion right now for me and it has really got me jazzed about the biz. Always fun to have something to rev your engine back up. Sales have continued to stay strong across all my Micro agencies, haven't seen a dip from the summer months which is also cool. Maybe the Fall will get even better for Micro.

Best,
Jonathan

Yea it is only 10 bucks but it shows there is a faint pulse, some sign of life. Have to see what time will bring for sure.

Cheers,

All sales very slow for me.  Not too surprising as I haven't uploaded much all summer.  Need inspiration.

Did I read the date wrongly?  27 th July 2008, or is it only a couple of weeks ago? 2009.
I am trying them too, joined them the same day as I joined Istock. A week ago, to be specific.
I have more active images live with 3 D , naturally, as IS has a 15 images limit and not all of them got approved. More or less 60% .
I am curious to see which of the two sites takes off.  IS with 60% of my port, or 3D with 100%  ( even that number is wrong, as I am limited to 15 images with IS, while 3D is being fed almost daily where my port will be built much sooner).

I am happy for you 3d is bearing fruit for your effort.

We're starting construction of a new studio/guest house in about 2 months time. Very exiting.

I suspected so. Afterall 24 bucks is not so commendable for over a year 's effort. But a couple of week's effort , 24 buck is pretty awesome .
I quite like  3D,  your images gets seen rightaway in the new images section, the views  already moving in. As they say, you can't sell if they don't see your images.
Something 3D studio does perform handsomely for ALL contributors in this matter. And of course, I like their prices.

Only thing left  to be seen is when my first dl comes.

Thanks David,

Have to give 3-d a look. Those are good number right off the bat and the thing I like is the per image return you are getting there. Thanks for the post I will definitely check it out.

Best,
Jonathan
