Title: What ever happened to Adobe security breach? Has anyone gotten letters?
Post by: sweetgirll on November 04, 2013, 16:46
Hi guys,
Just wondering whatever happened to Adobe regarding those compromised accounts.
I only got the email and nothing else. I asked the support how could I know if my credit card info was compromised...they said they were in the process of sending letters by mail I think this is what I understood...

I didn't sign up for the Cloud, just purchased updates through the site, so I don't know. But it has been a while since it all happened.
But I'm curious...Wondering if anyone got letters in the mail after the incident.

Monica

Other than the e-mail, nothing. But I haven't signed up for Creative Cloud either - still using CS6

I'm in the Cloud, but no paper letter, though if they were sending them out surface mail from the US, it would take a while.

I got a letter on oct 15. offering me a free 1 year Experian membership to check my credit report.
Having already been a victim of ID Theft we are pretty much on top of this stuff all the time anyway - but I will take them up on the free year of monitoring.

I dont know...
since it happened to some big companies..it makes me wonder sometimes...all the agencies, all the online shopping that goes on...

I wonder if there is a really good credit monitoring system that would actually work.
I researched a bit on that Lifelock service but I found a lot of negatives....

Let me see, they lost the passwords and accounts and your CC information, so they are signing you up for Experian monitoring for a year? So when you get your accounts stolen and you have your CC hammered with charges, YOU can possibly be one of the first to know?  :o

Fine example of closing the barn door after the horses have escaped.

Meanwhile I enjoyed this part best:

She added that the firm still believed that encrypted credit and debit card numbers, product expiration dates and other information relating to customer orders had only been compromised in the case of the original 2.9 million users identified.

Regarding the additional 35.1 million users, the company thinks only customer IDs and encrypted passwords have been affected.

Yeah Baby, only 2.9 million accounts with CC numbers stolen, the rest, 35.1 million more, they only have your account and password. LOL

I think I'm lucky that I bought nothing online from them, (that I recall?) haven't received a notice, but I do have an Adobe account, so I'm going to look and see if there's a CC on it and get a new card issued.

If you have concerns, your card company will issue a new card, with a new number, and then the one that Adobe lost, won't be useful any time in the future. Part two. Change your password. Then when your free Experian account runs out, you won't need it. Enjoy the free year of monitoring.

My letter came in today (dated 23rd October!).
Nothing about Experian.

Here's a tool to see if you were affected by the hack.
