If you are using a hosting company, DO NOT pay for email from GoDaddy. You'll be able to set it up through your hosting company. Paying to hide your personal info does indeed mean that you cannot be traced by 'whois'.

Any other question, just ask!  ;)

Hi all,

I tried to register a domain in godaddy, and i realise that if u need email, it cause like $20 something a year, so the email isn't free?

and since i am using a website service to host my images, can i buy a domain without paying paying for another hosting service?

One has to pay more to hide personal information, does it mean not one can trace who you are by 'whois'..

I use www.internetbs.net as their prices are really low and they offer free WHOIS privacy.

I use hostgator as my hosting company and email storage. Everything works flawlessly.

Other domain registrars (networksolutions.com for example) offer domain registration and email accounts without web site hosting. But you're paying more for a few features than simply getting a low cost hosting company (or even a free one if money is an issue).

i had registered the domain without buying any email address in godaddy.com

but i try to 'activate' the my site, it seems i need to 'add email' or 'add website or hosting' options..but all i need to pay for it.

is it possible i don't have to pay for the hosting fee? i had signed up a service that will  host my images so i don't need another hosting site.

No. You can purchase a domain name and forward it to any URL of your choosing. You can also choose to mask the domain name so that people don't know where they actually ended up. They'll only see the domain that you purchased in the address bar.

In a case like this, you would need to purchase email accounts from the domain registrar.

Nobody mentioned Dynadot.com yet. I have been with them for three years, never had a problem.

Well, i tried out with godaddy, and i searched internet and used this promote code

promo749 Save $3 on .com registrations, transfers and renewals

I end up paying on $7.67 instead of $11.99, the discount is $4.50 instead of $3.

After some google i realise there is a free email credits i can use, that's mean a free email account can be set up with the purchase of domain..instead of buying a email plan. The free credits is under 'my products'->'free products', where you got a 'free' email, page, photo album..

below is a link to godaddy, an affiliate link.

Just some misc comments, it seems the user interface is designed to get users to buy more and more service..and some contents favors users aren't easy to access, such as this free email accounts, if you choose 'add email', nothing about free email credits is showed, just options to buy email plan.

anyway, just to show that one just need to spend $7.67 to get a website domain!

I also want to buy a domain and due to this I additionally need a web site host [nofollow]. This thread is very interesting to me because I do not know what I have to bear in mind when buying a domain. Hopefully I will soon find the right domain for me which should be cheap.

i think you will get 1 free page and 1 free email address, it takes sometimes to figure out how to get the free email address.

as i had listed down the price, it is good that it is true one just need to pay that amount instead of more hidden cost to get a domain.

I just used my domain to forward to the site i am using..

I tried out 1and1 but was pretty unhappy with them.  They have their own blogging software and it seems they made it purposely difficult to install wordpress.

+1 on the unhappy experience with 1&1 (or should that be -1?)

I use Namecheap for my domain and Hawkhost for hosting. Never had a problem with either one.
