Title: What is "Hero image" meaning?

I read this article, he told me how to rock a hero image.
But... what is "hero image" ??

I'm not a professional designer but I'd assume it's a super imposed (=large) image on the landing (home) page.

Well, it used to be the main image on a page, the image that would catch your eye first. It was usually the biggest and most dramatic. When I designed catalogs there was often one main money shot on most spreads and smaller ones to go along with the impact of what we would call the hero image.
