Is it only me?
When the best match does not change for a long time, and your most downloaded files are always on the top, it can be a blessing or a curse.
Unfortunately for me, the most downloaded clip has a very specific location, and the landscape has since changed. I wonder if it explains my slow sales at P5.
I am toying with the idea to have this clip deleted. What do you think?

You're toying with deleting your best selling clip? Erm, yeah... makes sense.

It doesn't sell anymore because the landscape has changed. Haven't sold any in at least about 2 years.

Right... everything's a lot clearer now! Yeah, get rid of it.

If ONE clip has this much impact on the number of sales, you need more clips.
-
I sure need more clips.
But if the best match does not change, only those with historical good sales are seen. The new ones will most likely be buried.
It may affect you too.

Well, old clips with many sales have been pushed to the top of the search at Pond5 at least since 2012.
That's why people always say "Pond5 takes time to get started" and the old-timers praise P5 as being the #1 site.
That being said, I'm having unusually good sales now, also on clips that have never been sold before, and are more than 2 years old.
Shutterstock, on the other hand, is unusually slow on the footage side.

Still not clear on why deleting your clip would improve anything. Care to elaborate?

Increasing, what you are saying is interesting.
For me, SS has surpassed P5 by selling many times more in the past few months. Even though my P5 port has a few hundred more clips because I have contributed longer.
Also SS has a tendency to reject night clips by claiming excessive noise. These clips are often accepted by a reviewer. Sometimes I resubmit but more often I just forget and move on.

Leave it up. Somebody might be looking for a "before it changed" or nostalgia clip to contrast with today. The longer you leave it up, then the more valuable it will be to such a customer.
If you leave it up, you might make more money from it. If you delete it, you will make nothing.
