I thought it would be interesting to get an idea how long most of us have been involved in microstock.

So vote to when you uploaded your first microstock image.

I uploaded a few images in fall 2006 to test the viability of doing this full time, and began in earnest in Jan 07.

I started in Feb 05, with Shutterstock. I earned a grant total of 89c in that first month!

I joined iStock in late 2005 (as a buyer) and started submitting in mid-2007

I stumbled across istock in late 2004. Then bigstock and canstock were next.

Joined 2004 with DT by clicking on DT banner placed on web site "the best brands of the world" and start uploading 2005.

- 2005 I started buying so my status is quite old on some sites.
- 2006 (barely) with DT & FT
- 2007 Started to make some $ and joined the rest
- 2008 Joined Zym, likely my last new site unless something exciting turns up
- 2009 I've had an account at Canstock for years, I plan to actually upload some photos this year
- 2009 May upload to my Alamay account, although I doubt I will ever produce the volume for this site to have much effect for me.

Feb 05 I had my first upload accepted at istock. First sale in March 05.

Started at DT in June '08 with ten landscape/nature images. All were accepted and I have rapidly worked my way down ever since.

June-July 2007 with no clues about what microstock was.

I was 22 years old and directly out from a big photography store where I learned the basics of photography from the "pro's" there. I slowly started to upload at microstock and still upload slowly, while I got the "advantage" of a whole life (career) in front of me. No worries and I can still enter in night clubs

Started with BigStock June 21, 2006 with this photo:

It has been sold 3 times.
Today I would not start out on any site with a nature shot but 4 out of five were accepted. After my first month of $30.00 plus earnings I have never missed a monthly check since then. (30.00 to 75+)

Very steady earner for me.

my my how time flies

started at a site in 2003 was banned and then found a home at canstock.. - this was one of the first (not sure if it was the first - but one of the first ten) images I uploaded I just took a look at it at 100% and will probably use it as an example of isolation with the dull chainsaw technique.. ;0)

Started in November of 2004 with DT. I started before that on SXC, but free doesn't count, does it! I found out about microstock from SXC forum. My oldest photo for sale is below with a whopping 1 download to date!

I started in Feb.'06 with Shutterstock and Istock on the same day. Made a good start, but I said to myself : 2 is enough. Now I'm with 8 agencies. Now I say to myself : 8 is enough.

I started in late 2006 with zero photography experience. I just uploaded some nature shots I had taken with my first DSLR and was surprised a few got accepted. I thought if I could get some shots accepted maybe I could make a little $ on the side and things kind of went from there.

I started uploading in January 2008. It would have been December 2007, but that 30-day thing with SS kept me focused in image quality.

The fifth file I ever submitted to iStock has been my best seller with 285 downloads on IS alone.
