Title: Where or What Agency?
Post by: vwbus1967 on February 01, 2015, 13:08
This is my first forum question, so here goes...

What stock agency accepts and uses scanned files 4x5 film files? I really only want to use one agency for this and specializes in using film? All the files would be 4x5 color film, drum scanned tiffs and converted to high quality jpegs unless the agency wants tiff files. I do know know about the cost of the scanning but it would something I scanned anyway for myself, I just thought maybe I could use the scan for something else too.

I know about the cost of the film, processing plus the time but that doesn't matter to me, well it does but I take that
into consideration plus I just like using film.

Your suggestions, thoughts and opinions would be most welcome! Thanks!

All of the agencies used to accept scanned images and iStock even used to have specially trained inspectors for them.  I haven't submitted scans in a few years so don't know right now.  You might need to ask the agencies individually or maybe just sign up and submit a few to see what happens.

Scans of 4x5s should be huge and will need to be downsized for submission, but that should keep them plenty sharp.  I wouldn't spend the money on scanning for microstock only but if you are planning to do it anyway it is worth a shot.  Good luck!

I uploaded film files escaned with an Imacon scan, I mean a conscientious scan, and I have a few refuses just the reviewer confuse the grain film with noise. Notes to curator.Cultural frontier.
