Title: Which Agency has the best upload system?
Post by: Freezingpictures on June 03, 2008, 13:36
Since we are all so excited about Yay Micros Upload system  ;), I am interested if it really has the best upload system judged by contributors, or is it another agency which has a better upload system.

It would be nice if we could vote for more than one. Maybe top three?

yay micro.

no categories, images with IPTC data one click to upload, those without there is a bulk editor (which misses SELECT ALL!!!). so all in all yaymicro.

123rf has even easier, but slower. after uploading, you have to wait for images to be processed...

StockXpert has a bit complicated system with briefcase, and bulk editor with so many folders... not bad when you het used to it.

dreamstime is OK, because you can set categories for all in a row. only anoying thing is clicking on I AGREE button every time. but fast enough.

fotolia when using multiple tabs in firefox is pretty fast and nice system too. It was my first site that I started on, so I feel like at home there.

IS - definitely the worst system! slow uploading server, one by one file, anyoing keywords setting, lack of categories...

and last but not least - SS - good sytem with straight forward interface, but lack of bulk editor for categories makes it anoying a bit.

I would consider name change to "submission process/workflow". Obviously when site uses FTP upload process is the same for each one.

Also I would nominate 3 worst:
Istock
Fotolia
SnapVillage

I guess unlucky winners are these one who implement categories in then collection...

Sorry I cannot change it anymore. I also just noticed in Leaf's Polls up there^^ there is rating of the upload system.
But I think it will take a little longer to see if yay micro can catch up to 123 RF in the upload rating. So I hope this poll is still in the readers interest..

Ichanged it to submission process/workflow

Yaymicro wins hands down for me. Everything they designed works, and works pretty fast. Even the Java uploader works for me, and I always seem to have problems with anything Java.

My surprising #2 as far as being fast and painless is ImageCatalog. Nothing sells at IC, but the upload is good. I just sent IC a "what's Up?" letter asking what's up with lackluster views and sales there.

The worst for me - 123RF and Fotolia. On 123 it is slow for me, and I get semi frequent browser shutdowns. Fotolia - last I looked I could not edit keywords there one the image is accepted, and that sucks. To me it is an extended part of the upload, maybe wanting to insert a missed keyword at a later date.

I only submit(ted) to the top 7 of your list, so I can only assess these.
For me, IS is the worst, of course.
Since I started to submit photo's that need MR's BigStock dropped to the bottom too though, with the silly "select how many modelreleases you want to attach"-button. After they started stopping the ftp-upload at random, I quit alltogether over there.
123RF is the eaziest, no categories and a great system to attach releases.
