Title: Which agency in addition to the big four ones?
Post by: superdone on September 22, 2015, 10:04
I joined to SS, IS, FT and DT (the top four agencies).

Now I want to add other two or at most three agencies.

It has to be an agency with a light uploading and keywording processes and (obviously) where photos and vectors sell (even if at a low rate than the big four agencies).

I don't have any videos to sell so I am not interested in agencies where videos are pushed.

Based on your personal experience, what is your advice?

Thanks in advance.

I recommend 123RF. Easy uploading and more sales than DT, at least for me

Lol with a name like Rainer123 you can only recommend 123rf. I'm waiting for user  Asterix500 to recommend 500px :)

I recommend Pond5. Doesn't sell often, but you get 50% of the price you set. If you do travel, I also recommend Alamy.

Total waste of time to upload photos on P5.
If anything they sell at all, they sell videos.

Interesting, so Alamy is recommended for the travel photos?

I'm only selling travel photos, having ports with Big 4, just started a new port with Bigstock and thinking of adding another agency or two.. Gotta try Alamy then.

Bear in mind:
1. Sales are sporadic, can be super low (often) or very high (occasionally), depending on the deal the buyer has with Alamy.
2. If a file is editorial (and they're far stricter than the micros on this) it must be RM. If you have the same file RF elsewhere, it can't be RM on Alamy.

I am kind of partial to big stock. It's more difficult to upload to some than others (annoying categories) but I like the sales I get there and the payout is low.

I also like 123 because of easy uploading. No keywords or categories to waste time on. Sales there are streaky for me but now that I have a decent port there (1000 images), they are settling into a routine.

I wouldn't recommend Alamy unless you have travel images. It is difficult to upload and will have very few sales.

I wouldn't recommend deposit because of the shadiness of their partner programs (I have a port there but have stopped uploading for now while I mull on this point).

And Pond5 is very easy to put uploads but sales are very infrequent. With 1000 images, we sell about 1 image a month. (We have videos there so it's worth it to upload the photos given the other sales).
