Anyway who in their right frame of mind wants to survive on micro-stock alone, keep uploading junk all day long, every day like a blue arsed fly, checking sites every 5 minutes and diving on the Alka-Seltzer if the going is bad anf then finally after every schitzophrenic search-change get suicidal!...being under the power of the cretins running the business. Nah do me a favour!....its a hobby just a hobby and if it pays for a few cups of coffee and a few beers thats it!

The sad part of this now 15 years old story is that it could have been something! could have been a good good going but then greed and short term profit thinking got the better of the been-counters and it all derailed!

if i would have to live from photography, i would spend time in offering ps-trainings, lr-trainings and photo course trips!
In the UK the amount charged for very basic photography courses/workshops is very high! If you live in a scenic area and are good with people then its the way to go!

Some may do it that way, I limit myself to two days of work a week. One if I can get away with it. At 40, I'm entering my twilight years, so like to take it easy.

"Keep uploading junk" for a couple hours a day is enough for me to live exclusively from microstock. No need get so involved emotionally and let it ruin the rest of my life. If I had to find a regular job, I'd have to work 8 hours a day or even more if self-employed.

they expect to earn with mediocre content and talent....i read that thread and browse some portfolio...that marbury has one of the useless portfolio in micro stock...2000 snapshot taken when taking out the dog   to make pipi...and he complaints complaints...what . he expect is out of my mind...i would be surprised if he earns more than 30 dollar nowadays....then when somebody asked him why h not do commercial  he said he want do only street and editorial...those are not street or editorial those are snapshot a teen of 5 years can take. those people want free lunch but free lunch in micro is finished long time ago.

lol! that is incredibly funny! do you have a portfolio link? I'm sure probably somewhere, someone in the world would "love" that content, so his problem is finding those 1-2 people that would pay for it :)

I've no respect for anything that guy currently hawks around seeing as he likes to call other microstockers "clowns"

I quote "All these doom and gloom clowns just need to work harder."

He's got a fair point, but to be honest clowns do work pretty hard, unlike many who post regularly in the doom & gloom threads.

Not easy keeping those kids happy!

The doom and gloom guys just expect what they had 10 years ago and want to pay their bills. It's all just slow and hopefully steady now.

If people would accept and respect how others think and act, we would have a better world...
But these posts are all just full of envy and hate...
You can't change time, just find another way for yourself!

envy f what...uer mediocre photographer who complain and write every day the same post

he expect to earn thousand with a bunch of snapshot. that's why he not sells nothing...the same  for other in that thread. the time of cat snapshot who sell thousand is ended up.

I really wish you luck working that hard! and dont worry I was just being funny!  sure it pays for a heck of a lot more! it really did up to a few years ago, really! its given me lots of Mac's and Eizo monitors over the years I know that.
The average guy in microstock though will never see that sort of rewards.

Well it takes a lot of those 4 hr days before you learn, shoot, upload enough to even remotely make a living. Heres to the hope that it can be done at some point

we tend not to bash others in an open forum even if you're Mr Steven Spielberg who probably wouldn't have bashed them- send them a PM instead.

Mostly i think microstock will help pay for the photography expenses, maybe bits and pieces of your vacations and trips and if you are really good at it then some of your normal living expenses. The ones skillfull enough to make a full living from this will be few and far between
