Title: Who Reviews SS-
Post by: aly on March 05, 2014, 22:38
I would be enlightened to know if anyone may help me understand why one day some images  will be accepted yet in a week or so similar ones rejected-this goes on ad infinitum- yet accepted ones sell well -why are the others no good-?? Time consuming to have to try to work out why whole batches have the same reason-poor lighting, out of focus, poor composition. Yet one spends many hours  ensuring that these are as correct as can be  done with modern aids like light room, raw, photoshop, etc. Does a human review or is it a computer program algorithm? I am reticent to ask SS in case I get banned for impertinence  as  they are my major  income provider at present. I appreciate any help. Thankyou.

It has no sense to open a new thread to debate about this.

Make a simple search on the forum, with keywords shutterstock, inconsistent, rejection(s)
You will surely find some answer…

Right. Plus reviews, as frustrating as they can be for most of us, are simply an unknown as to how/who does it.  SS has what we believe to be a seasonal reviewer whose sole purpose seems to be to reject, not accept. That person is not doing SS any favors when good content is being rejected based on a power trip.  Nonetheless, one just doesn't know.  Shoot the best you can, upload and if any get rejected, correct when necessary, resubmit with a kind note and roll the dice.

One thing.  While I always submit what I think is superior work.  However, I do look back on images produced in previous years and they aren't as good as I thought and inspectors were right on some of them, as much as I fought back.  It's hard not to get caught up in a tunnel on your images.  I have learned a LOT about rejections, taking rejections, etc.  It's one aspect of microstock you must learn how to manage.
