Title: Why do images look different on my screen when than on stock agency sites?

Hi there,

I have been trying to figure out why when I load to web my images always seem darker and less vibrant as they do on my screen, and yes I do keep my screen calibrated - I am puzzled, any one know?  Thanks in advance

Do you convert to sRGB before uploading?

Yes  I process raw files through Lightroom 3 - expost them out as .jpeg sRGBs into picasa to keyword (don't ask me why - I know I could do that in Lightroom)   I am now checking if Picassa stuffs around with the profile

What web browser do you use?  Have you tried visiting those pages with a different  browser?

what i know most of the website system will generate the preview images with some contrast and sharpening to make the preview image look nice.

Firefox, I deleted IE I will check it on another computer around here, hmmmm no it is not more contrast they look more muddy in colour than contrast and sharpening boosted.  Thanks  will keep investigating

sometimes i will save the jpg accidentally as prophoto profiles, and the color will appear okay in adobe bridge or some browser, but it will appear dull in some preview jpg..

I'm 99% sure your profile isn't sRGB when you upload, check again!

Have checked colour profile sRGB IEC61966-2-1   going to look into the suffix info - that might be the issue

F.W.I.W. Sorry to be vague about his but I remember reading somewhere that Firefox doesn't render true sRGB and to bring it in line with I.E. that does, I used an extension for Firefox 'Colour Management 0.5.3' (well that 's the version I run at the moment). Maybe the info about Firefox is dated as it has since been updated, goodness knows how many times, since then. Maybe others know more and have some updated info.

I think the problem in FF is Adobe RGB, not sRGB, but I can be wrong. I remember that some pages that show the differences between sRGB and Adobe RGB can only be correctly viewed in IE, because in FF they look the same.

Check also if there is no monitor profile being embedded. I had some photos scanned that looked awful in my PC and ok in the store's PC, then I found out I could open them correctly in PSP without the embedded profile.

Thanks for your responses I will look into Firefox versus IE  and FF colour profiles
