199 Euro seems to be a bit exaggerated. I understand there is a lot of a valuable material, but come on, wouldn't 50 Euro be enough ?
-
Someone from the Expo said in a thread that the Expo is for pro stockers who can afford it. They said something like if you cant afford it, its probably not for you. Which seems a bit denigrating to me.
But there you go.
-
Itīs a lot cheaper than going to Berlin...the potential audience is also quite small, I think. If millions of people would buy the videos they could probably make it cheaper.
It is up to you, but the workshops and discussions were great, sounds like a fair price.
-
Ron, I'll consider it a compliment for me ;).
Has any of you bought the full access? Do Shutterstock and other big players say something new, revealing and helpful ?

looking at your portfolio and sales at a few agencies it doesn't look much actually, you must be doing 3 to 5k $
anyway I have no idea about your expenses so I should mind my own business
how much would you charge to record all microstock expo conference? 50 eur? ;D
-
It's all about volume. I thought if it was cheaper, more photographers/illustrators would afford it, which would possibly result in higher profit for the hosts of Expo.
That being said, I CAN afford it, however I don't always come across 200 Euro for some videos (with all due respect to its value), hence my consternation.
-
don't forget you are getting 1372 minutes of the EXPO or something like 23 hours
200 EUR / 23 hours = 8.69 EUR / hour
I hope they paid a little more to the guy shooting it ;D
-
Cant they just make an edit of the 23 hours, 90 minutes, and sell it for 50 euros. Im sure there is not 23 hours of must see footage. 23 hours, jaysus, you can do a PRINCE2 course and become certified project manager.

that doesn't mean they haven't shot 23 hours and still need to go over them to pick 90 min, we need to think of the persons that made these videos, ok we are used to micro prices but its not reasonable most of the times as we know
-
The real question is, is it worth the price? I don't mind spending the money if the content is good enough. Does anyone have a link?
-
What do you mean they havent shot 23 hours?
Are you suggesting that the 23 hours is already edited down?
TV series are 12 or 24 episodes, mostly an hour long. Thats a full season of Game of Thrones or what ever. This expo was 16th & 17th Nov 2013. Two days, 48 hours, and they have 23 hours of footage. LOL.

Well, at 23 hours its probably all of the expo so Id say its worth your money :)

how much would you charge to record footage for a weekend like at this conference?

That depends on what the customer wants and what the demand is? No.
Nobody is saying the videographer shouldnt be paid. Its a legit question to ask if its worth 200 euros. 275$.

there were different rooms and different workshops etc at the same time, anyway I am done discussing this, you can't seem to understand that photographers/illustrators paid over 1k EUR to attend this conference but now you want they to charge we that spend zero 50 EUR to see the all show!
-
Thats not what I am saying at all!
Calm down Louis, I am not attacking you or anybody else. Just asking questions.
If there is 23 hours of invaluable information, 200 euros is not much.
If its 22 hours of people chatting to each other, its not worth 10 euros.
-
Ron is right, they should edit their videos, who is going to watch those 23 hours ? Not to mention most of it seems to be recorded from two places in a conference hall - a camera on a tripod recording non stop (moments of boring technical breaks like speakers changing are not cut-out as it may be seen on the free 5 minutes video they provide)
If they made an interesting two hours video out of it, it would be awesome.
-
lets just focus on the masterclass then, you have 3 top guys not new corners
Yuri - 2 hours
Simon - 3.5 hours
Thomas - 2.15 hours
almost 8 hours for 200 EUR of 3 workshops from guys that know what they are doing, is that expensive?

I agree for 200 EUR
you are in or out, easy!

Great stuff 8 hours of workshops, very valuable, and then 15 hours of crap.
Whats your investment in this video anyway? Did you buy shares? You almost sound like Mike ;)
Just kidding Louis :)
-
no Ron I haven't got anything by defending my own opinion and I don't allow you to say something like that, I am honest and genuine, I say what I believe not other other will think its nice
pretty much I value others work, I know how much it sucks to work for a client and get cents for it, my plan isn't to devalue what EXPO guys did
make sure you don't say I am like Mike ever again ;)
-
So I need to accept 15 hours of crap and pay 200 euros for it, but I am not allowed to question the footage? I have every right to say about that video what I want.
Apparently the work was shot from a tripod and no one even looking at what was recorded. I am willing to do that for 200 euros over the span of two days.
I'll call anybody Mike when I want to. ;)
-
sure Mike
-
Hahahaha, cheers. :)
Hearted you for that one.

this is hilarious, now that I read it again
199 Eur is a bit exaggerated = valuable material = 50 Eur is enough
next time you have a client make sure you make him a 75% discount ;D

First time poster, because I generally have no reason to post. Anyway, I've watched all the videos. 2013 and 2011. It is pretty interesting. But then I'm the kind of person that is happy if I read a 300 page book and only found one thing of interest. I think there is a little bit of something for everyone at all levels. Some of it is very interesting and some of it is quite boring. But that is all in the eye of the beholder. I watched it over several days while I was retouching photos, so no big deal. I spent the money on the video because I looked at it as doing research. Just like I visit this website.
