Just went through an article which had eight photos, all top notch, from 2008 to the present. The license credit says "Wikimedia and Getty Images" which led me to go look at Wikimedia home.

While people are watching search engines for what they find, who's concerned about this. I would be? Launched on 7 September 2004, Wikimedia Commons hit the 1,000,000 uploaded media file milestone on 30 November 2006 and currently contains 15,973,221 files and 108,669 media collections.

If this isn't a bit of puffed up marketing, Wikimedia has 16 Million free images? That's some strong competition to Microstock, isn't it?

Then part two: will work for credits. Credit line or attribution line holds information that author of the work requests all users to include with the work, as a condition of use enforced by the license. Specifically widely used Creative Commons CC-BY licenses and GFDL licenses require all users of the work to attribute the author.

That's one section, but it appears that the Getty images aren't in the free collection.

When I go search, I find none of the used images in the article, that came from Getty. Can someone help me? Does Getty market through Wikimedia with licensing? A Partner? Where's the search so I can see what's in the pay catagory?

Thanks, I hadn't heard of them and when I saw the whole article with race driver photos, going back years and different series, I couldn't figure out why every one had the license Wikimedia and Getty. Still don't understand, unless they have some credit option at Getty to share and boost Wikimedia.
