Hello, This may be pie in the sky. What I am looking for is a script or software to load my batch of video files from dropbox to shutterstock, Pond5...etc via ftp. I want to use their upload bandwidth not my own for a faster upload. Is this possible? I don't need keywording my upload speed is relatively slow.

Hi jjneff

Take a look at Otixo

Or do it yourself with Owncloud
https://owncloud.org/

I use Owncloud and run it on a $5 Droplet at DigitalOcean. It links to any FTP so you can use it to supply all agencies. Everything is moved in the cloud not through your local machine.

Let me know if you need further info.

Until we got our own optic fiber to the internet, we used a backup computer server with 2TB of disk storage on a location that had optic fiber. Investing in a compact computer such as Gigabyte BRIX J1900 Ultra and a friend that has optic fiber/fast internet is a win combination. Computer uses very low power, you can connect to it via Teamviewer and use it as a file sending server. You could even have it as a second files backup if you put more hard disks around it. We still use it for 24/7 always online server for sending anywhere and as a TV box :P

The Otixo 50gig limit happened recently. That is why I switched to using Owncloud on DigitalOcean. $5 gets you 1TB of transfer per month and it's easy to add more if needed.

The only hassle is that you have to transfer one file at a time. With Otixo you can transfer multiple files. But one file at a time is still way faster than continually uploading.

Hi stockVid,
how did you tune DigitalOcean up to grab files from Owncloud and pass to the agencies?
Can you please share details?

thank you!

Hi Mike,

You do not 'grab files from Owncloud'.

You use Owncloud to move files around. You add all your accounts to Owncloud including your main cloud storage location and then inside Owncloud you copy files from your main storage location to the agency FTP.

All files are moved in the cloud. Not through your local machine or internet connection.

DigitalOcean did not take any tuning. I just use the default $5 droplet configuration. I'm moving and copying 4K video files no problem.
