Title: Your Website
Post by: hobart on July 04, 2008, 10:51
I am considering building a site to promote my potfolios and try to refer stock buyers to MS sites.  Can everyone post their links to their sites so i can see how you all do it? Just need some good ideas to get rolling.

I don't have much of that in my website, but FP's HTML snippets are perfect for that.

Adelaide

Dunno if it'll give you any good ideas though...

http://cpix.co.nz

Currently re-designing it to be more portfolio based, as it's mainly local sports stuff, and I'm not working for the paper doing sports at the moment, so it's not very practical....

Post us a link to what you come up with so I can get some ideas for my re-design. :-).

Cheers, Chris H.

All right, here's mine... unless you know what you'r doing & you want some bells & whistles for your site, may be buy a template, or a ready made site - will save you a lot of time & won't be such a pain in the neck. Here's mine, and I spent a few sleepless nights figuring things out with it:

my portfolio is http://pix-now.com/main.php (http://pix-now.com/main.php)

i'll trade links with anyone else 's portfolio -- submit your site address at:

http://cascoly.com/sell-your-photography.asp (http://cascoly.com/sell-your-photography.asp)

One of the factors search engines calculate is the number of relevant external pages that link to your simple.  Simple 'add your link' pages are discounted.  Here are several ways to promote your images and increase the google pagerank of your webpages.

GLOBAL SCAVENGER HUNT:
 Go to   http://pix-now.com/games/hunt/adm-addtreasure.htm (http://pix-now.com/games/hunt/adm-addtreasure.htm)
where you can define treasures from around the world - for each item, you can include both a URL to your webpage and a URL to your image [your choice of size].

When people play the game they will see these links.  In addition, we create a physical page for each treasure, that is picked up by search engine crawlers.   the current version of the game itself is at http://cascoly.com/games/hunt/main.asp (http://cascoly.com/games/hunt/main.asp)

ONLINE PUZZLES

We host the software, you provide the images - you can link to an unique page showing your image(s) as a puzzle.  YOur linking page can work like this: http://cascoly.com/games/puzzle.asp (http://cascoly.com/games/puzzle.asp)

I have a combination of several sites and I am still working on it:

http://miklav.com - my main personal site / portfolio. I plan to change the gallery and links under photos

http://miklav.blogspot.com - my blog about photography and life in Belgium, covers various topics including fine art prints, and is indexed quite well in google

http://stock.miklav.com - site about earning money online with digital pictures. Not only microstock.

http://belgium.miklav.com - this just a test. Very narrow niche - fine art photo prints related to Belgium, also with link to my stock photos of Belgium on Dreamstime

I started with a blog/photo blog of sorts, then a little while ago decided to sign up with Smugmug (was debating between Smugmug and Winkletdesigns and doing it myself using say Gallery 2.0, but I like features offered by Smugmug - right click protect, no print option, etc)

My experience has been that a good blog actually does work to generate interests and referral traffic, as long you keep it interesting and fresh

My URL's are:
