I saw this on the Shutterstock Forum:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=863&v=18XDzw-xlCI&feature=emb_logo

How this guy can actually talk so much utter rubbish for 20 minutes is mind numbing.

He gives away his own thinking on the the contributors, by calling our images free content, this really shows his mindset.

Apart from this one mention the rest of the video is about him and him.

See the slide at about 18'40"

"Don't protect the core at the expense of innovation"

I expect that "content producer" are core?  NOt worth protecting?

Seems to be a necessity for 'leadership' nowadays, vide Trump (the Grand Master of the art) and Bojo, for more examples.

OMG, this is so bad.

He talks how he wants to network thenproducer and the consumer, likemhe is selling hamburgers or milk.

No word at all, that the buyers are graphic designers, ad agencies and the producers are also designers and media people.

He only came into SS last year with absolutely no knowledge of the media industry.

He thinks it is about the tech, the platform, when instead it is all about the content and the crowd.

Why would you hire someone with zero crowd sourcing experience?

You're too kind :)

He's such a dull presenter too.

I do have a file with some priceless quotes though. Sounds like he saw a few strategy presentations after finishing his MBA and just regurgitated word salad.

Disruption blah blah blah platform economy blah blah blah engagement is the primary metric blah blah blah

This is him

He is atrociously bad and his presentation is just filled with empty buzz words.

He shows absolutely no understanding how the media, news and design industry works. He has no clue who the customers or producers are.

4 million dollars and options, for this?

New York is such a competitive place, why did they nit buy talent?

Or was the real talent too smart and this was all they got?

I have understood that he has a wife and two daughters the sum is three, isn't it?

Downvote him.

I was tempted to do that. But if we do that, youtube could erase the video. This video must not disappear, on the contrary, it must stay with as many downvotes and as many negative comments as possible.

You do understand there's a difference between the Digital Media Licensing Association and Shutterstock right...?

The association is not related to Shutterstock at all, so spamming their videos with comments about SS or Pavlovsky makes no sense. They have every right to delete comments from their videos that are not at all related to their association.

But yeah, just keep blindly harassing every company that even remotely mentions Shutterstock in the hope someone sees your comments. Great way to make contributors look like a bunch of whiny, uneducated kids. Geez.

We all understand that these are different companies. Information could be delivered only by these means because they don't listen to opinions from official sources.

Btw, very weak position.
Do you defending company, which don't count their contributors for people?
Maybe salary of this ceo reseted every year too? I don't think so.

So people have rights to express their opinions and you trying to shut them up.

DMLA has censored the views of the very people that enable the association to be there in the first place. Look at the membership of the association. This essentially means other members of the association are denied to see what the contributors to the industry think about the slash and burn SS has done and how it affects our livelihood, and essentially condones the slash and burn to the industry as a whole.

Frankly this censorship is more sickening that what SS has done.

I'm not defending Shutterstock, I'm pointing out that attacking this organisation, which has no involvement with Shutterstock or their pay cuts, is just totally misplaced. The fact that you don't seem to grasp that simple concept says it all.

It also has nothing to do with the right to express your opinion. You have a right to express your opinion, just do it at the right place and stop barking up the wrong tree. If you have an issue with your plumber, you're not going to complain at the local supermarket just because the plumber buys groceries there.

No, they delete irrelevant comment spam, which is their right as it's their channel. What does SS's pay cuts have to do with a conference talk from 2019? Go comment-bomb Shutterstock forums, dislike everything on Shutterstocks's Youtube channel, spam their Twitter feed for all I care. Just don't do it at places that have no affiliation with Shutterstock.

This is not censorship, it's keeping their own comment section clean from irrelevant comments. It doesn't automatically mean they condone Shutterstock's actions, that's what YOU are thinking.

What I am thinking is they contradict their own "mission statement" as listed below...

Mission Statement
To foster and protect the interests of the picture archive
community through advocacy, education and communication.

Purposes:

To develop useful business standards, and promote ethical business practices

To actively advocate copyright protection and copyright education

To collect and disseminate accurate information relevant to the members, their contributing artists and clients

To take an active role in the developments affecting the picture archive community

To build and maintain relationships with other professional organizations and related industry

They clipped our wings man, and that is a fact. They censored not disseminated and yes their role was very active, they shut it down.

Saga continues:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKtuS6gN9-FDw7KsUYWazkg/discussion

The Digital Media Licensing Association You Tube account is a channel with 8 subscribers. It really isn't going to make any difference posting there.

I'm not even sure that the organization has any heft - i.e. if no one pays any attention to them anyway, why do we care (beyond them giving us that F- presentation from Stan "walk before you can run" Pavlovsky)
