How do I know these were sold? Go to the "Footage" page

and scroll down to "TRENDING FOOTAGE" section and click right arrow a few times. Those are highest grossing clips sold within a week.

So, if you have a rare not always in demand footage with no similar clips out there, you may want to put them on Pond5 exclusive and price them high. For the one or two times somebody needs that clip, you don't want to give it for pennies on Shutterstock video sub. Also, you better not price them at $25/HD on Pond5 just because it's not selling and it's shot on your phone. If somebody needs it in rare occasion, they pay much higher than $79/HD $199/4k standard price if they can't find a similar clip for less. Now I'm pricing that kind of clips at $129/HD and $249/4k on Pond5 exclusive. I see $300-500 clips selling regularly on Pond5 exclusive. So, maybe I should price some of my clips at that level too. There's nothing better than getting 60% commission at my own decent pricing. Don't sell your clips cheap!!!

Yeah, because they're editorial and newsworthy clips, it's not about the quality in this case at all. Highly unlikely someone is going to have a cinema-grade camera in hand whilst an elephant is running rampage or a mob is beating people up over trainers.. These clips are purchased by news outlets to tell the story and if this is all that's available to back up the story then they'll buy it.

If you're ever in an unusual situation, whip your phone out and film it and get it on the stock sites as editorial ASAP and you too might bag a few hundred dollars for your quick thinking.
