I uploaded several clips (about 70) via FTP to Clipcanvas over the last weeks, but none of them have appeared at the site to edit them for publishing.
I also sent a support mail on Wednesday, but got no answer yet.
Somehow I have the feeling that the site is preparing to shut down about six month after the royalty cut.
Do you experience similar problems?
Best regards,
Robert
-
My experience exactly and even worse is that I have a pending payment since August. Uploads disappearing, no reviews and no payments - I think a closure is eminent.
-
Darn, I totally forgot about the payouts. I have about 720 Dollar there, just requested a payout now, hopefully it is not too late.
-
I stopped uploading after they sent out that email about having to cut commissions. Didn't have any confidence in them after that. I hope they aren't shutting down, if they are in trouble, hopefully another site will buy them.
-
At first I thought this thread was about ClipDealer, as they do seem to be in trouble. I've written support twice in the last few weeks about messed up uploads, and no response (in the past they had responded fairly quickly).
Clipcanvas has always responded very fast to my support emails; I really like them. I wasn't happy about the commission cuts at all, but I do like that the minimum price was being set to 59 Euros as there were too many clips (IMO) priced too cheaply. It's too bad they aren't allowing higher prices, but I can understand their desire to simply the pricing structure.
I last heard back from support on 1 October, so they were working fine up to that point anyway.
-
I really hope that's not the case as ClipCanvas does pretty well for us and they've been great to work with. We're still waiting though for the last couple of batches we uploaded to appear in the edit section. Getting stuff to edit seems to be going slower.
-
I had submitted an application to them to become a video contributor, but it's pending for over 4 weeks now.
-
I've asked them to look at this thread and respond to it. Hope they can explain what's going on.
-
I think they are just very busy trying to rescue the site now, the commission is back to 50% and all the prices are the same now, that was the last big change , about a month ago, and they dont send out email about sales anymore.
My clips uploaded in February are still pending, so i dont upload anymore, payments request are fulfilled after about 2 months, but there are still sales coming in here and there, so i guess i just leave it like that and see how it goes.

If your clips uploaded in February are still pending, you should try emailing their support - I had several clips pending for months like that, and they responded quickly when I queried them.

Got an email back from the CEO. They say they've been through a rocky time in the last 6 months but there's no reason for deep concern. They confirm that they are not closing down and things should be back to normal soon. They are very sorry for any frustration and insecurity caused by them in the recent months.
Now I hope that happens, they've been good to work with so far, even though they don't sell a lot for me.
-
That's good to hear! I hope they can get back on track.
-
That's very good news; thanks for posting.
Now I wish I could get a reply back from ClipDealer. It does not look good.
-
Is a CEO going to tell you in an email his business is going to close down? I doubt it. Sounds like a standard run around the bush email to me. Not saying it isnt true, but they wont tell you to worry because that would cause everyone to pull their images and put the last nail in the coffin.
-
At least they replied. You know there's definitely something wrong when you don't get any response. They could still be in trouble but they were honest when they cut commissions and I have to give them credit for that.
-

I don't think there is anything wrong with Clipdealer....I've emailed them a couple of times recently and got quick responses.

Thanks, that's good to know. I'd always had quick responses from them in the past as well. So it's a bit odd that this time they aren't responding. Maybe they just have no answer for the UL problems. :(

I haven't had a sale from clipdealer for a very long time.
I'm actually really disappointed in them, their site is slow as always for as long as i can remember, frequent upload glitches which require you to email support to get anything resolved, they just don't appear to invest in anything.
-
Clipcanvas still exist ?
Anybody sells there ?
-
Yes, they still exist. I really like ClipCanvas and we sell there every month.
-
They still sell, but they don't pay. My pending payment is now approaching 3 months.

That's not good enough...

Ok, then is even better, that I have NO sales there.
Small portfolio, but same videos are good earners on SS, P5.
-
Anyone heard something from Clipcanvas recently? I can only find some communications from early October and they're not replying my support mails nor inspecting my uploads for the last few weeks.
-
Almost two months waiting on payment, I wrote to them but no response.
-
Clipcanvas is dead!
Not just for me! As I see here, also other contributors have problems with them too.
No sales and what is more said, no payout.
No support as well.

I can't disagree about the lack of sales, as I still haven't reached payout so can't even comment on payout problems.
But my personal experience with support has been great. They have always gotten back to me very fast -- usually the same day, but by the next day at the latest. They've always been very helpful with their responses, too.
I was really hoping that sales would begin to pick up, and would be sad to see them shut down (not to mention, not happy about losing almost 50 Euros!). I hope they can survive.
-
KB, I am talking about present time, not what was in the past.
I agree with You about support, but it was so months ago.
And now, zero, null, nada...
-
Haven't had a need to talk to support recently so I don't know about that but we are still making sales and just had our monthly payout a couple days ago.

Yea, I've sent them two emails trying to sign up. Guess I have my answer.

That's very disappointing to hear. I hope it turns out to be something innocent like the main support personnel were out with the flu (I think there was only 1 or possibly 2 people I ever corresponded with). But it doesn't sound good at the moment. :(
-
It would be nice if they could give us some sort of update…all this negativity is not doing their business any good.

Revostock, for example, is having an hard time too, but at least they let us know what's going on...
-
I'm starting uploading on Revostock right these days. What's wrong with them?
-
They have some financial troubles: http://www.revostock.com/ProducerNews-Empty.html (http://www.revostock.com/ProducerNews-Empty.html)
:(
edit: you need to log in to see this page...
-
I'm am logged in but it switches automatically to the home page. Maybe they erased it
Would you mind to copy and paste the content?
-
Just log in and then go on --> Producer tools --> Producer news
There are a few posts, so I can't paste everything...
-
Thank you Gigidread. I don't have that tab. Probably it hasn't beeing eanbled yet in my account. I'm uploading but still not approved footage in there.
It will come.
-
My last payout was on 15Oct2013, since then no activity, 60 files pending for review since Sept 2013. I have just deactivated more then 500 files. Hopefully they will pay the last invoice ...
-
How did you wait to the last payment?
-
For me it's slow in payment and review but it's alive, better than Revo. In fact, for the review i had to write to them after a few months, they profusely sorry and approve right away. Looks like it happens again now. For the payment it become a norm of about 2-3 months delay, but they sell and they pay. Recent sales are pretty good thanks to price increase. I do get newsletter occasionally. I think they are really nice people and just having technical issues. I would continue to support them.
-
CC is a bit funny with reviews. I don't think I've ever had a batch reviewed without contacting them to ask for a review after several weeks of waiting (they seem to be extremely tolerant of such requests). That usually results in a review within 24 hours. Weird.
-
Regarding ClipCanvas, I've had over 80 footage clips in Pending since September. Support emails not answered. Facebook page not updated in months. I did get three sales in January though… we'll see if the money comes. I will be disappointed if the close - they have been a steady seller for me (for a small site)...
-
They haven't replied to my mails requesting inspection for months now and they haven't replied to my mails asking for an update on the status of Clipcanvas. So I decided to remove my portfolio from Clipcanvas (it wasn't a big seller for me anyway). I can understand that you're behind on inspecting files or replying e-mails, but not communicating at all is unacceptable.
-
Well if they are breathing, they can kiss me goodbye. Any agency that treats contributors, both current and prospective, this way isn't worth the time and hassle. They are clearly under funded, under staffed and not positioned for growth. Who wants to be associated with a company like that? Sccccrrrraaatttttccchhhhhhed off my list.
-
Hey guys!
Let's do a flash mob. I changed my public name from "edvideo74" to "edvideo74whynopayouts". Do the same!)
I don't think it will help, but we must say something.
=)
-
I started a thread today about this issue:
I requested payment in December 2013 and still waiting for payout.
Multiple support requests resulted in: no answer >:(
At least an answer would be in order...
-
Again, CC is dead.
Simple as that.
-
I had some clips pending approval since August last year and sent them an email with a link to this thread. It took a day but I got a reply, all my pending clips reviewed and approved with a hearty apology...
-
Again, CC is dead.
Simple as that.
I had my first sale in several months a few weeks back.
I'm still hoping they make it, somehow.
-
I've stopped uploading months ago after having the same problems as everybody else here. If they were upfront about their problems like Revostock have been, they may have gained some support from contributors. This strategy is unacceptable and has damaged their business beyond repair.
-
ClipCanvas owes me around 250 Euros. The have not responded to my payment requests (over 6 months now), FB messages, or multiple e mails. But they continue to sell my work (not for long though). I would avoid them like the plague.
-
250 Euros is a lot of money....I'd call them and try and get the money out of them. Their phone number is on their 'About Us' page.
-
They have also 200€ for me...they still not answer to all my messages...
-
Same here. The owes me more than 260€.
-
Think that's bad? They owe me 4,278€. I requested payment in April 3rd.
My clips continue to sell. It's a hard decision for me to remove my portfolio, because the only chance I have of seeing that money is if the site succeeds. It's not in my best interest to make it harder for them. And then there's all the work I put into uploading - I don't want it to go to waste and I certainly don't want to have to upload all my clips again, should the site rebound someday. I went through a similar ordeal with Revostock, and now they've recovered and I've received my payouts. So I'm waiting, hoping...
I accept some of the blame because I forgot to request a payout for a full year. I upload to 13 sites and most of them make automatic monthly payouts. I mistakenly thought CC was one of them. Moral of the story? Request regular payouts on all the sites you contribute to!
-

For that sort of money I'd pay a lawyer to make a phone call to them...

There are a few comments from CC here in this Russian forum:
http://zastavkin.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6814&start=560 (http://zastavkin.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6814&start=560)
They are talking about delays in payouts and why there are delays. On the next page in the forum there is another comment from CC. Mentioning they are working on automated payouts.
Seems to go back to August 2013.
-
I 've sent another email requesting my payout and they finally replied yesterday:
"Yes, I'm very sorry you've been waiting for your payment. It shouldn't be like this and I understand your impatience and frustration. What I can tell you, is that accounting is working on the backlog now. If I could ask you to please provide us with the dates of your payment requests, it would help accounting find you and possible speed up the process. As soon as I have the dates, I will forward the information to accounting as a reminder.
I don't know if you got the latest newsletter from our CEO? It explains a lot about the situation and also about the plans for paying back royalties. If you didn't get it, I am sorry, but I have inserted it here: THE VERY LONG TEXT EXPLANATION YOU HAVE ALREADY READ"
Again, I am very sorry you've been waiting for payment, but please provide us with the dates and I will remind accounting.
So, i've sent my ID and the date af my 2 payout request, now they stop to reply again.
I think the very long text of explanation is too much, some agencies tell nothing, this one is telling too much, it's a huge amount of excuses, too long to be really honest.

Very positive news on the ClipCanvas front. I have been corresponding with them via email. This is their latest:
I am happy to say that Clipcanvas has reached final agreement to be acquired by a single owner. All terms have been agreed upon, and those of you with payments outstanding will be happy to know that this is one of the very first things to be addressed.
Going forward, Clipcanvas will get a lot more resources to grow, and both your voice and work will be an integral part of this. I believe we have a bright future ahead of us, and I hope you do too.
More information about the next steps will be sent to you as soon as the acquisition has been approved by our General Assembly. This is a formality, and the final stage of the process will be concluded within the 14th of October, as required by Norwegian legislation. As always, you may reach out to me directly, using my personal email given below.
I want to thank you for staying with us during this period. The new owners believe in you, just like I do, and without your patience this would not have been possible. Thank you.
Sincerely yours,
Mr. Christoffer Berg
Chairman
Clipcanvas AS

Yeah - great news. Kudos to them for being open and honest about what is going on.
-
Excellent news. My oldest (of several) pending payments date back to November 2013. Now let’s see if they can pay me before the year laps.
-
As the new Chairman of Clipcanvas, and one of the major shareholders, I am pleased to announce that as of yesterday we started paying all our videographer debt with the goal of having cleared our backlog by the end of October (2014 :)).
A first change that we are introducing is to simplify our videographer payment procedure such that outstanding payments will be made on the 15th each month.
We are very excited of the opportunity to work with you. We value your feedback on how to make Clipcanvas the preferred site for high quality stock footage.
-
Thank you!! We love to continue working with you.
-
Just want to confirm to everyone that ClipCanvas has paid out all $6,000 dollars that was owed to me. I will be resuming uploading my clips there and I wish them luck!

Great to hear that things are turned around and they have payments taken care of!

I also received my CC payment today. :) Paypal took their pound of flesh, though, charging about 4.5% plus giving me a less than wonderful EUR to USD conversion rate ($1.2382 USDs = 1 EUR, while the current forex price is about $1.27).
I hope the new buyer can bring new customers; it'd be great to start selling at CC again. Good luck to them.
