Title: Does Anybody Fly their Drone in USA under FAA Part 107 being a non-US Citizen?

Hello colleagues!
I'm simply going to visit the USA and would like to take some aerials with my drone(I know there are lots of restricted areas there). I'd like to sell my aerial footage via microstock agencies and that's why I need to take an FAA aeronautical test and get a Part 107 Certificate, which is needed to fly your drone commercially.
The test is not something hard I believe and everyone can prepare and pass it.
But... I am a non-US citizen (I'm from Moscow). And there's kinda additional thing you have to do to get Part 107 Certificate - submit an application (a form) for foreign air carrier economic licensing to Department of Transportation of the USA.
The form has some weird questions and the process of this submission is quite complicated (as FAA described).
I'm also chatting with FAA about this application but decided to ask here as well.
Has anybody went through this? If so, I'd love to hear about their experience.

Russians would eventually turn up in odd places, often in middle-of-nowhere USA. One was found on a beach, nowhere near where he was supposed to be. In one particularly bizarre case, relayed by a U.S. intelligence official, another turned up wandering around in the middle of the desert. Interestingly, both seemed to be lingering where underground fiber-optic cables tend to run.

A Russian with a drone these days in "nationalist" USA?  ummmmmm I would think it twice, mister :)
