Title: Footage of 19th century audience?
Post by: Kriller on January 23, 2017, 22:23
This is a stretch and I hope that this is the right place for this request...

I'm searching for some kind of stock video of a 19th century audience clapping or reacting or just sitting there for a piece I'm doing that involves a theater in the 1800s.

If there's any clues on this or if you know where to find it real quick, please let me know. I've searched on multiple stock platforms and can't find a video even close.

And findings would be gratefully helpful!

Cool stuff, thank you so much for looking!

The tough part is, I'm specifically looking for videos of this in color. So almost like a visual you'd see in "The Prestige" or something.

not many videos from the 19th century, esp'ly in color -- so you'd need to find something with actors/extras in a period piece  -- or early reaction shots of audiences in early 20th century (eg, king kong); doubt these would be available as royalty free - perhaps national archives?

If you want it in colour, your probably out of luck. Might have to get someone to custom make that with actors or CGI.  :)
Or you can colour a BW your self. Lots of trouble with that one.

Kodacolor invented 1928 most people shot B&W home movies until late 40s. I'd say find something new and make it look old. Find scene in period dress.
