I just moved 500MB to iStock (one clip) only to let me know that my clip which is 30 seconds and 00 frames is too long.

Am I supposed to upload 29 seconds and 29 frames or what?

I don't bother with istock any more.  The commission cut was the final straw for me.  I often had upload problems and they sold a lot less than Pond5.  Reviews usually took over a month for me.

I keep all my clips below 20 seconds, it makes the files smaller to upload, they are accepted everywhere and I also wonder if buyers prefer shorter clips?  I suppose it depends on the subject and it gives buyers room to edit if it's longer but they also have to spend more time downloading a big file that they might only want a few seconds of.

Well, first and foremost I'm stunned that the 30:00 clip doesn't get processed because it's "too long".

Considering all the stuff happening at IS no big surprise and I won't bother uploading the clip again or shortening it for them.

I usually only submit 6-10 second clips but now I have some stuff where the buyer might want to pick their preferred part themselves.
Since they are not paying more for a longer clip I don't really see the issue there. These days 500MB are downloaded pretty fast. I don't compress very much so they have to put up with the bigger file size.

It would be the first time I heard that a buyer purchased someone else's clip just because of the smaller file size...

It's an another stupid figure-out game @ iStock. Anyway this problem comes from the programmer side of the development.
You have 900 frames (30sec x 30fps), in the reality this means 899 frames because they count from 0. But that's still 899 frames, isn't?

iStockvideo is a major hassle no doubt about it. My bitches are endless and that's the reason I ended exclusivity there. Nonetheless a sale you get there is probably a sale YOU ARE ONLY GOING TO GET THERE. This due to the massaging / cultivation of the customer base. If I keep in mind who that customers is, I can and do, submit clips there that now continuously sell. My submissions there have got much sparser - as I have expanded the number of sites I submit to,  but I still submit there. See my blog post http://www.stockvideoseller.com/public_html/where-to-sell/. It's definitely worth it - but frustrating.
