If so, what do you think about it?

I didn't think there was enough detail in the email to make a determination one way or the other.

I do appreciate that they will let us opt out. If it turns out that discounts are even worse than current ones (or more frequent), at least I can opt out if I chose.

With last year many "new features" they actually destroyed our incomes on Pond5, we will be really careful with this new "Global partner program". If we see it even lowering our incomes, we will opt-out.

Sorry, could anyone explain what this "Global partner program" is about?

Nobody knows... their info is so undefined that we don't even have a clue what it means. But if we are right, they will be offering packages with different price ranges to specific buyers.

It's a sort of distribution to a group of resellers with lower (I guess) pricing.

I did not receive the mail either.
Also, nobody is talking about it in the P5 forum, which is strange

This e-mail only went out to top sellers. The real announcement for everyone will come later.

I just wonder if they are rethinking that strategy.  Right after that announcement, I could not get anything accepted.  Today, everything is being accepted again.  Sales are still slow but not unlike they used to be.  Not that they are giving it up, but I think its possible that a pilot test of sorts might have suggested a different approach and they are looking at closing those gaps.  This is PURE SPECULATION on my part but I run huge business strategy gap analysis (I'm a big data guy) and we slow down or stop all the time when a pilot exposes excessive risk or holes in the pro forma revenue pipeline.

Whenever a company says, "We have good news for you! We are forming a partnership to better your sales potential!"  it usually ends up bad for us artists!  :(

They are surely one of the most daring and sometimes reckless experimentators of the industry but our sales have been the best recently. I guess any experiments are made by Pond with some selected big group of contributors, it's too risky to find out some day that the approach was wrong for the whole site.

Why not simply read the info about it on the P5 website rather than speculating - and getting it wrong?

Yep, it's there - were you signed in and are you a contributor?

i found this, but there is not too much information.

"Global Partner Program

What is the Global Partner Program?

The Global Partner Program will distribute your works to a group of hand-selected resellers and high-volume customers who have not previously used the Pond5 marketplace.

How do I participate?

All Pond5 Artists are automatically enrolled in the program, as outlined in our Contributor Agreement (link not yet active).

How do I opt-out?

Participation is optional, and you can opt-out (link not yet active) at anytime after the program launches on March 20, 2017.

Where can I track my sales from the Global Partner Program?

You may track your sales from this program and all other sales on your Dashboard. At launch, aggregate sales from the program will be reported on a monthly basis.

Will partners have access to my high-resolution content?

No, your high-resolution content is only delivered to end customers after a transaction is processed. Access to your content will be managed via our API.

How will my content be priced in the Global Partner Program?

Deals that are part of the Global Partner Program will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.  These partners tend to have high-volume demands and require custom indemnification and standardized pricing to manage their budgets. We will likely pool content within a similar price range for buyers based on their budgets, commitments, and licensing needs. Deals sold as part of this program may also include extended licenses, which will generate additional revenue for participating artists.

Does this program impact my pricing in the Pond5 marketplace?

No. Marketplace pricing will not be impacted. You can continue to set your own prices in the Pond5 marketplace.

How will proceeds from sales of my work be divided as part of this program?

As always, all net revenue will be split with you 50/50.

How will participation in the Global Partner Program impact how my content is displayed on Pond5?

The Global Partner Program is designed to reach customers who do not use our marketplace.  We expect this program to generate sales above and beyond sales in our marketplace. Your decision to participate will not impact the way your content is displayed or ranked in our marketplace in any way.

If I do not participate in the Global Partner Program, can I still be included in reseller deals?

Unfortunately, no. You must remain opted-in to the program to be included.

Still need help? Contact us!"

That isn't the info I was referring to - but I can't now find the more specific info page (with numbers) I was referring to.

I received email this morning from Pond5 announcing the Global Partner Program. I have a tiny number of images at Pond 5 and sales have dried up there for me, so I'm assuming the email is now going out to everyone.

There is a new Contributor agreement to cover the program. Here's that section:

"6. Global Partner Program
Pond5 has created a Global Partner Program with the aim of promoting your content in geographies, markets and to customers and resellers or other redistributors that our traditional marketplace may not reach as optimally. While we believe that participation in this program will generate additional revenue opportunities for your Content, your participation is optional and you may opt out at any time on our Website Opt Out page.
Your license to us includes the right and license throughout the world to market, promote and distribute your Content indirectly through resellers and other redistributors and authorize such resellers and other redistributors to grant perpetual and term non-exclusive licenses to your Content to their customers under the resellers or other redistributors own license agreements, which may include some or all of the rights that may be granted in a Pond5 License Agreement.
We will pay you 50% of Net License Revenue we receive from customers, resellers and other redistributors for Content licensed under the Global Partner Program as provided and subject to the provisions of Section 3 Compensation; provided that as part of our Global Partner Program, we will have discretion to (i) set the price of your Content and/or agree to compensation structures with the aim of maximizing overall sales of content and revenue to our contributors, and (ii) license your Content to customers as part of a pool of works, in which case, we will have sole discretion to allocate the amounts paid by the customer among your Content and the other works licensed to the customer on a basis that we in our sole good faith discretion determine is fair."

You get half of whatever the partner turns over to Pond5 and if they bundle up works, they get to decide how much of the bundle price is attributable to your content.

I found Alamy's distributor program unfair and so opted out, largely because the distributor got 40% and I received only 30% (half of the 60% Alamy received). I find it completely unreasonable in the age of internet sales that some third party who does very little to nothing gets to siphon off more of the buyer's payment than the contributor.

So if I cared about income from Pond5 I'd have the same objection - the distributor gets 50% and the contributor 25% of what they buyer has paid. That's just unconscionable, IMO

Are you sure? I received the email, but had just one sale this year so far!
Hope I am not a top seller, or the situation is tragic.

Also, they say "We have updated our Contributor Agreement to enable all our artists to take advantage of this new program."
