Hello all,
i have been shooting photographs and recently started submitting footage but just with P5 and SS. Though still have small port but ss doing much better and hope p5 sales will also improve as soon as my port size improves.
But i have not yet submitted to revo and clipcanvas.. are these sites worth one's time and efforts these days? How have you been doing with these 2 sites ?
-
both worthless - no sales in over 2 years, while pond5 & even SS make sales for me; I've stopped adding to either of those, esp'ly since they add more hassles to submitting
-
No sales from RevoStock, but ClipCanvas is my second best earner, after SS, with iStock just behind in 3rd place.
But I have only a small port (about 70 videos, very simple stuff) - your mileage may vary...
I do continue with RevoStock though - I like their site and they're very easy to upload to.
-
oh ok. Do you get sales in istock ? I register in revo 2 days back and today i got their approval mail. Then i register in clipcanvas today. They dont ask for test images rather asking for any passkey or request for an invitation. Then mailed asking to wait upto 3 weeks !!
Is it something new cc started or they used to ask for such request earlier too ? And when can i expect their reply ?
Thanks

Revostock doesn't sell a lot for me, but pops in for 1 or 2 sales each month. ClipCanvas hasn't done much, with only one file sold in the past year. So for me Revostock is worth it.

you have good collection ruchos. If these 2 also dont sell significantly then i wonder where do customers go to buy their footage... Just p5 and ss ! Probably getty...

I do get the odd sale on iStock, but really I am small time on all the sites - my sales are still in single figures, so not really statistically significant!
As for ClipCanvas, I don't recall the exact procedure for becoming a submitter, but I think I registered, then upgraded my membership by uploading a small selection of clips, as requested. But this was more than a year ago, things may have changed.

Clipcanvas: 9 sales since july 2012 (136 files)
Revostock: 15 sales since may 2012 (179 files)
There are low earners but some months with good surprises

Thank you guys for reply.. seems revo is 3rd earner/seller for most.

I just finished totaling up my monthly sales for each agency and over the past year my sales have become even more disproportionately in favor of P5 and SS. I thought it was a lot that last year 71% of my sales came from P5 and SS, so far this year it has been 91%! I have seen a lot of increase in sales at P5, though I attribute that to reducing my pricing and seeing a rapid increase in overall sales despite the lower payout per sale. Revostock and iStock have dropped a lot and aren't worth the time for me. It's pretty amazing how just two agencies seem to completely dominate in the stock video world - at least that's how it seems.
-
Not much different to microstock images, except for me there's only one site dominating for stills. The internet seems to work the same way as traditional industries. Lots of businesses fight for their market but only one or two end up dominating it. So we end up with Google, Facebook, Amazon and Ebay. There were lots of microstock forums at one time, now MSG dominates :)

So what does everyone think the top, say, 5 video sites are? I am seeing this thread say:
Top tier
SS
P5
IS
Mid-low tier
Clip Canvas
Revostock
Care to hone this list?
-
if i see last 5 months its
1.SS
2.P5
3.123RF (strange but i did sell some footage there)
4.IS (my 1st sell after Feb)
no sale still in Revo and CC but my footage collection is still below 100
-
DLs:
$$s:
Only a small portfolio (just over 100 at the most) though. No sales on Revostock or anywhere else, though as SS/P5/CC/iS have been more successful, I have concentrated on them and do have the larger collections there.
-
For me:
(about 600 clips)
1 and 2. Last year : 1. Pond5, 2. SS. This year P5 and SS equal
3 and 4 : Last year 3. Canstock and 4. 123Rf. This year the other way around
5. The rest (FT, CC, Rev)
-
1. P5
The rest aren't doing well for me. SS had picked up earlier this year but my last sale was 3 months ago. Even Revostock have done better than that.
