Title: I see video sales shifting more to Pond5 from Shutterstock.
Post by: helloitsme on August 24, 2017, 20:44
That's good because Pond5 pays more than Shutterstock.  It's time for Shutterstock to pay us more, like at least 40%.  Pond5 has all kinds of licenses now which they didn't before.  Maybe big corporate clients are shifting to Pond5 now.  Fotolia/Adobe Stock video sales aren't growing as I expected.  It kind of stopped growing.  VideoBlocks sales aren't impressive either these days.

Good reason for that. Probably less bull from reviewers that want you to jump though hoops for ridiculous requests after a stupid rejection and for what? A proverbial peanut.

It's a nice thought but I'm not seeing it.  SS still doing far better for me.  AS and VB doing fair.  P5 lagging.

Same here. I have had a big lull at SS for everything stock until the last two weeks. Photo sales STINK but video has popped up to make up "some" of the horrid losses from stills.  P5, two videos only this month. One on VB, noting on ME (as usual) and nothing on 123.

Not seen any significant change in average sales for the last year or so, when it comes to VB vs P5.

I joined Pond5 at the start of the year.
Worked really hard, now got 300 clips, but only had one sale so far.
Not a lot of clips I know, but I`m proud of them, I know I need more though, but it`s hard work until I start to see returns.
Wondering and worrying how long it takes for everything to start to snowball?
Had more sales on Ss, although low prices of course.
I joined iStock last month and had 12 sales already. Yes I know prices will be lower, but at least they've started to sell. Just need to get P5 to start selling 12 a month. I like the 50 50 commissions there and decent prices.

Did I read somewhere that sales usual take off a year after they've been submitted there?

What were other peoples experiences when they were starting out on P5?
(If they can remember that far back!)

Or never. Pond5 is so incredibly saturated and new clips will not be found by the search engine. It's good for people who joined 5-10 years ago, but very hard for newcomers.

Just try finding your own clips and you'll get a good idea of the chances of selling anything. If you have something with unique search terms, then sure.

I stick with P5 and SS for clip sales. IS simply doesn't deserve my body of work. P5 is very up and down month to month this year. SS is always 3+ with 9 sales in February. This month P5 is sitting at 6 sales. SS @ 4 but one of them was a $105 sale .

Thanks I`ll try it.

Had a quick check, a lot coming up on page 1 or 2, but I thing I may also need to revise some of my keywording too.

Thanks for the advice.
