Title: I will not contribute if Dissolve executive opens a new site.
Post by: helloitsme on August 26, 2015, 14:02
I've learned a lesson.

It's people who run a company after all.

Did they open a new site?, because im missing the point of this thread.
Maybe irrelevant but i received an invitation from a new agency apparently in beta stage called "filmsupply" and the front page was identical to dissolve's.
And not only in design.

If.

I just don't trust any of the executive people who run Dissolve anymore.  That's the point.

http://calgaryherald.com/technology/startup-of-the-week-dissolve (http://calgaryherald.com/technology/startup-of-the-week-dissolve)

They bragged about "The average HD clip at Dissolve costs $5, where the exact same clip can sell for as much as $450 on competing sites."

and now the debacle.

Enough is enough.

I read that and scratched my already sore forehead some more. So might the reduction to $49 not have been a reaction to something but rather a plan to reduce prices and a excuse was needed? The plot thickens.

So
Is this really worthy of a new thread. Didn't we already beat this horse to death?

Well i dont think many will disagree with you, this is what many people have expressed anyway, plus the article is 2 years old,not that this is irrelevant since they are pursuing a very mixed model in pricing, not to mention appeal.
But i still dont get the point of this diary/thread.

Thing is that every agency sort of brags about pricing low.
Pond5 does it albeit covertly.
Shutterstock does it without really hiding it,mostly  by using bigstock as a vessel.
Videoblocks certainly does it.
Not to mention videohive/envato,along with most of the lower tier agencies that sell video.

Thing is that we if go about this route we will become a bunch of colorful protesters holding signs yelling  about ceo's and management and things that hold no actual meaning.
Because the decisions companies make are a bit more complex that the morning coffee ideas of any incompetent ceo.
And by complex i dont mean clever or justified.

No, the point of this article is that it has many names of the management team of Dissolve so that we can avoid contributing in future if any of them start a new stock site.

Shutterstock and Pond5 sales are unaffected since VideoBlocks started in April.  Only the Dissolve is complaining and crying like an immature baby.  I feel sorry for them.
