I just deleted all my remaining video clips on Adobe Stock and notified Pond5 to move all video clips to exclusive account.  I have unpublished my video clips on Shutterstock since January 2021.  Adobe Stock was great until they started video sub last year in April.  Gradually video sub became majority of video sales and recently most video sales were cheap video subs.  On Pond5, my RPD (revenue per download) is $64 this month.  I price my HD clips for $79 and 4K clips for $199.  I experimented with cheaper price like $49/HD and $99/4k, but didn't see any sales increase.  So, I set my price back to $79/$199.  My Adobe Stock video sales RPD las month was $12.  And recently all my video sales on Adobe Stock were video subs with RPD of about $4.  That's 1/16 of my Pond5 Exclusive RPD.  It just doesn't make any sense to sell on video subs anymore for me.  If you are selling your clips for $25/HD, video subs is OK for you.   But I would never price my clips at $25/HD.  I don't think pricing that low will result in higher total revenue.  I think you are losing potential income.  Reasonable buyers would pay $79/HD if they need that clip and don't see the exact clip on Shutterstock or Adobe Stock video sub.  So, I think, if you have been doing stock videos for 5 ears or more, have more than 5,000 clips and have steady sales on Pond5, the best way to maximize your total revenue is to go all in Pond5 Exclusive.  Shutterstock sells its Shutterstock Select video clips for $399.  So, if you think your clips are worth more than $4-12 RPD, I think you should go all in Pond5 Exclusive too.  Let low quality clips compete in video subs.  I price clips I shot on my iPhone or RED camera the same.  If a buyer needs particular clips, they pay decent price no matter what.

I also think my clips are worth more than $4-12 RPD, but if I was to go exclusive at Pond 5 my earnings would drop by about 85%, all things being equal. RPD is great and all but it has little influence on your overall earnings, how much money you make at the end of the month and whether the whole concept of selling stock is worthwhile or not.

The easiest way to figure out if it's worth it or not, RPD aside, is just to take your average Pond5 earnings and multiply that by 1.5... if that's a considerable increase on your total earnings then go for it. If it's less than your total earnings then don't go for it... if it's somewhere inbetween then it's something to consider.

"If a buyer needs particular clips, they pay decent price no matter what". No they don't. If you have 100% unique content that cannot be sourced anywhere else then that might be true, but how many of us does that apply to? Not me. They'll pay the going rate on whatever site they predominantly use, and if cost is a factor, then they'll have found whatever they're looking for long before they get to the $199 options. Well... they will 'pay a decent price no matter what' to be fair, but they'll pay whatever is a decent price to them... not what you consider a decent price to you.

But anyway, hopefully it works out for you. I just think that your hard and fast rules are more specific to what works for you rather than a winning solution to everyone. If somebody is only submitting to Pond5 and Adobe then it's more likely your advice will work, over somebody who is submitting to half a dozen or a dozen other sites that also generate a reasonable amount.

Good luck with your journey. Please keep us informed if it works for you.

Personally I think having an exclusive outlet or two as additional portfolios, but then still a mix of normal stuff everyone shots spread out gives me more balance.

I have had really bad experiences with being totally dependent on one platform. I will never give up my freedom again.

But supplying Blackboxglobal and my pond5 exclusive account is part of my overall mix.

So far, I love seeing previously non-exclusive clips getting 50% more royalty because I moved them to Pond5 exclusive.  That 50% royalty increase itself is more than my average royalty on Adobe Stock.  So, I don't miss selling on Adobe Stock.  Yes, spreading out on different sites only works if all the sites give you about the same royalty per sale.  If some sites only give you 1/4-1/10 royalty per sale than other site, you have no reason to keep selling at discount store.  If you are a luxury apparel brand, you want to sell at all department stores, but not at 99 cents or dollar stores.  It just doesn't make any business sense, but that's what's happening in stock videos since video subscription was introduced by Shutterstock and then Adobe Stock.
