Title: Promoting your work (stock collection) on youtube
Post by: silveandalu on December 26, 2018, 11:41
Hi everybody, recently an ad agency contacted me because they watched a vídeo of mine about Cádiz (The city where I live) and they wanted to use some parts of it for an ad campaign, I told them that I already have those videos as individual clips across the stock platforms, and also I told them that I can sell them directly, finally we put a price and they bought 3 clips.

This made me think about all the material (I have around 2.000 videos on stock) that maybe nobody never will watch, and I am wondering if it is worth to make a simples footage with some material (putting together by matters) and upload them to youtube... I made a try with this one (subjet: beautiful women... an easy start for testing) and in 2 days have 32 views...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIiZSZeNONA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIiZSZeNONA)

I dont know if someone here had the same idea, and if it works for him/her...

By the way this is the video about Cádiz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsdvaJxOrUY&t=2s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsdvaJxOrUY&t=2s)

What do you think about? Thanks!

Great showreel.

I`m planning to doo showreels on different themes on Youtube in the New Year.
I've no idea if it will lead to extra sales, but can only be a good thing to do.

Your showreel is the kind I like to see, exciting, interesting, quick edits to cool music.
I've seen some where not a lot happens over 2 minutes, with uninspiring music.

Music is crucial to the visuals and can make a great showreel I think.

Did had similar experience with my travel videos I put together. I got contacted by a big hotel owner for them to use the whole video for promotion. When I gave the price for it, they didn't respond anymore. I guess they wanted it for free. No go, ladies.

Nice, but I would have chosen another kind of music for a video about Cadiz…

Yes, so much guitars in Spanish music but you also have Julio Iglesias and Alejandro Sanz ;)

People on youtube search for free stuff I believe.

Although there is nothing in the TOS on Youtube currently forbiding this, keep in mind that for a clip to rank high and shown in front of the list you need titles, keywords tagging and viewers interaction.  Actually I have tried this with about 300 (own) clips offered under public domain though. It was a disaster and waste of time. Dislikes, comments on no audio, requests, frustration on my side... Further, with so much duplication you will have one more reason to worry on your content plus you never know when Youube will decide to put down any of your clips or even terminate the channel.

Instead of a channel you can setup a free blog and embed directly videos from agencies on pages or posts hoping to get organic google search visitors, not overrated social media or youtube anonymous crowds. Does it work? I dunno i am still a newbie but with no seo and pushing it is interesting that actually people visit it (no sales to linked agencies files though...). :)

Same here, how about something more epic sounding? The shots look amazing, it deserves a better soundtrack.
