Remember the contributor "Eighth Wonder" on Shutterstock?

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Eighth+Wonder/video

Everybody suspected it to be Shutterstock's in-house contributor.  Strangely, "Eighth Wonder"'s clips used to show up on top pages of keyword searches despite many of the clips seemed just weird.   Now "Eighth Wonder"'s clips aren't showing up at all at the top pages of keyword searches like it used to be a few years ago when everybody pointed out and wondered what was going on.  It has some nice aerials, but otherwise, I don't think "Eighth Wonder"'s clips have sold a lot.  It's not easy to guess what kind of clips will actually sell in this business.  Since the initial uploads, there are no additional uploads by "Eighth Wonder" for a few years it seems.  I would be very surprised if it wasn't a Shutterstock's in-house contributor project.

If it was an in house project I bet it failed due to the type of content and lack of customer interest, they certainly can tweak the search placement if they want to.

You're right it's hard to guess what will sell but also hard to find something that hasn't be shot and isn't on a stock website (video and photos), that's actually a fun challenge to do, search up anything you can think of and see if there's stock video or photos of it and there usually is, quite amazing actually.

I think Shutterstock realized it's not worth spending a lot of money for production and end up with not much revenue.  Sounds familiar.  Now they know it's better to let contributors take financial risk of spending money for production of stock videos.

You got it, they probably realized it's not a viable business even for them and it's no longer a viable way to make a living for us especially now.

That wasn't a house project but you two can go on in your imaginary dream make up world. The answer was on SS forums unless you are banned there. Eighth-Wonder is not a in-house contributor test account.

Good to know, the SS forums no longer exist.  Guess it makes sense it wasn't an in-house project although Oringer did start out by producing his own content at the very beginning.

It would be 100% profit should they produce their own content aside from the production costs, surprised they didn't do that in the early days back when there was money in this business, they couldn't produce all of it but a fair bit....

Most people especially those who are busy shooting, uploading and making money didn't waste time on Shutterstock forum btw.  I posted there for very short time for a few months before I stopped wasting my time engaging with majority trash talkers.

If "Eighth Wonder" was in-house or not, Shutterstock strangely pushed "Eighth Wonder"s content above all other contributors' videos, but failed big time.  I checked "Eighth Wonder"'s portfolio sorted by "Top Videos", but I only see first 20 clips that I think are decent sellers out of nearly 5,000 clips Shutterstock pushed/marketed so hard for many months.  So, it is a mystery why Shutterstock pushed "Eighth Wonder"'s videos at the time.

Just a note for honesty, the truth is, you got banned.  :)

It wasn't and "everybody" didn't suspect it to be an in-house contributor. Just you and maybe some people you convinced. So be surprised, it wasn't a house account. Maybe someone else will come and explain what happened? I know why and how, but you don't listen, so I'm not going to bother trying to explain.

You are correct, it was featured at the top of the search for a while. 4,913 royalty-free stock videos is no small effort. All uploaded in a relatively short span, bulk. My guess and "everybody" might not agree, it was a collection that was submitted from some group effort or small agency collection, not an individual. Shots from all over the world. They dropped them and moved on.

I remember reading about this question, of why some accounts got sent to the front. Answered here and on SS forum.

"Re: "Eighth Wonder", probably Shutterstock's in-house video contributor seems failed" Really leading Subject isn't it?

Thanks for reminding me
All those nobody stock contributors hate me.  LOL!!  Whatever.
They got nothing better than ridiculing people.  Useless posters.
They've never started a meaningful thread/conversation.  All they do is to come in and ridicule people.  And then I strike back, they get upset like a little punk.  LMAO!!  Weak.
OK, I "Ignore"d all the garbage posters on this forum now.  Maybe they are the same people I ignore on Shutterstock forum but different username.  lol  I just hope they ignore me as well and stop stalking me like obsessed wackos.
Seems you have problems with many others and no respect.

I only have problems and have no respect for those I described in my quotes you just posted.  You get what you throw at me.  I don't turn the other cheek.
