I compared my video sales on Shutterstock between 2019 and 2020/21 after the royalty structure change and cheap video subscription introduction and found for the same month, my video sale was down to 1/3 of 2019.  My Adobe Stock sales have increased during the same time as I added new materials and my Pond5 sales increased as well because I moved all my editorial clips to exclusive account.  I unpublished my videos on Shutterstock last year in July, and then republished in November, and then unpublished again in February this year because of very low sales that may hurt sales on other sites.  Has anybody seen the same drastic decline of video sales on Shutterstock during that time?

Opposite for me.

People complain about the low commission sales, and while I don't like them either, I do get a good share of $300 sales that more than offset the low-end sales.

So, I'm sticking it out.  Money is money.

That's nice!!  So you're doing better on Shutterstock video now than in 2019?  Yes, occasional $300 video sales is the good thing about Shutterstock other agencies don't give us somehow.

Oh, I see what you're getting at.

No, 2019 was a good year, but 2020 and 2021 aren't too far behind.

What's the percentage increase of number of clips in 2 years on Shutterstock?

5% increase in portfolio size from 2019 to 2020.  5% increase (so far) from 2020 to 2021.

5% increase in portfolio size from 2019 to 2020.  5% increase (so far) from 2020 to 2021.

Thanks for that info.  That means you are not a relative newcomer who is doubling and tripling the amount of clips every year.  That's impressive.  In my case, it seems like my contents have fallen out of their favor even before the royalty structure change and video sub introduction.  January and February of 2020 were both 30% down from the same months in 2019 on Shutterstock.  Then January and February of 2021 were only 1/3 of 2019's same months.  My yearly increase in the number of clips is probably like 10% for the last few years.

About a 45% drop from 2019 to 2020 and about a 20% increase from 2020 to 2021.

That's nice.  Have you added many clips this year?

Have you thought about whether taking your portfolio off sale twice could have done damage?
I suspect that when videos are re-published, they will have lost their original ranking in search engines, so won't sell as well...

Some, but not a massive amount. Less than a 20% increase in portfolio size anyway.

My Shitterstock earnings dropped 17% from Jan-Nov 2019 to Jan-Nov 2020. Pond5 earnings rose 20% in same period. Adobe rose 15%.

Shitterstock earnings dropped 42% from Jan-Nov 2020 to Jan-Nov 2021. Pond5 earnings rose 8% in same period. Adobe dropped 44% (no idea why).

Haven't added to Shitterstock since they cut earnings for contributors, have only increased my clips on Pond5 and Adobe by maybe 5% in same period.

There will come a day when Shitterstock earnings become so low that it makes financial sense to become exclusive at Pond5. Will happily switch to exclusive at that point because Shitterstock is a truly reprehensible company for the way they devalue contributors and take more and more of contributor earnings.

Problem is, at least for me, nothing much sells on Pond5 anymore at all. Two commissions of $26.69 and $14.36 since May. If Shutterstock earnings become too low, it will become a decision of whether to keep any ports up at all.

Sadly for a lot of folks that decision is already being done.  I only shoot what I want and when I want. My motivation is gone...

I've received at least one $47 (exclusive) video royalty per month in that same time frame, so I'm quite pleased with P5 at present.

Your sales report sounds reasonable and consistent with what I experienced before un-publishing videos on Shutterstock.  Thanks.

I'm trying to keep my stats clean, so maybe my conclusions will be uplifting for those, who keeps uploading quality content;)
Year 2019 I ended up with 500 videos in my SS portfolio. 2020 ended with 940 and now in 2021 I have 1500 videos. I can see clearly, that as my portfolio grows, my income grows equally and surprisingly - mostly on SS (despite of fact, that the same portfolio I have on Pond5 and Adobe where my average is 2 video sales/month  :o )
So with SS, despite of their new earning policy, those regular 250$-80$ sales make my additional income profitable :)

That's very nice.  I think you not only increased your contents, but figured out what sells and also improved quality of you videos.

I received yesterday 26 cents on SS for a video. First I didn't even realise that it is a video. My photo has the same thumbnail. When I received an email from SS telling me that the video went one level up I realised it's the video that got bought and not the photo. 26 cents for a video - seriously?
