So, I've been experimenting with my prices because of slow sales this year.  I tried the low price strategy that seemed to be working, but at the end, didn't really increase my monthly revenue because with low price, you have to sell many more.  Then, I tried high price strategy of $299/HD and $399/4k, but after a few sales, didn't really work out for me maybe because it's too high.  And it seems like I finally found a good pricing strategy that seem to be promising.  I have realized that each clips have different pricing power due to quality/popularity.  So, I priced my best selling clips at $149/HD and $199/4K.  And the rest of them at $74/HD and $149/4k.  What I have realized from those price experiment is, right now on Pond5, buyers don't really buy a clip because it's cheap.  They know StoryBlocks and some other cheap sites offer unlimited download for $10/month or something.  Also, cheap video subs are now available on Shutterstock and Adobe Stock.  So, the buyers who search Pond5 are here to find clips they couldn't find on those cheap sites.  My bestseller clips at 2x the HD price of the rest of my clips are doing well.  Also, due to HD price and 4K price closer, buyers tend to buy $199/4k instead of $149/HD.  If they want cheaper alternatives, I have many similar clips at $74/HD and $149/4k.  I have realized bestselling clips have stronger pricing power.  You need to identify those bestsellers with strong pricing power to take advantage of current situation, I think.  I see many and some high quality contributors pricing their videos at ridiculous $25/HD and $27/4K, but I think they are losing a lot of potential revenue.

I've been on P5 for a year, neve sold anything. 700 clips. But I have sold some videos on Adobe
. Makes sense if you have huge portfolio. But with smaller ports, better to diversify.

I filed a complaint to Pond5 regarding those $27/4K clips, but they aren't enforcing the minimum price rule.
Some top sellers set their prices at $25/HD and $27/4k.

It is not the authors who set such prices. This pond5 shows different prices for buyers from other countries. For each region, the site itself determines the minimum selling price.
You can set the price to $50, but this price will only apply to certain regions. For other regions the price will be lower, and this is out of your control.

I'm in the USA.  And I see $25/HD and $27/4K on those links.  I've asked Pond5 to raise the price, but they responded as below.

"thank you for contacting our Support Team.

Please know, our artists have freedom to set up the prices they would like for HD formats. If they set a price of $10 for HD (for example), then 4K format will be $20. If they set a price of $25 for HD, then 4K format will be $50.

I hope this helps.

Also...

It's only if they have the prices higher on OTHER agencies, 'a la carte'. And I think Pond5 actually specifies if they charge "more" (when I read the agreement).

So Pond5 would only 'lower' the prices if they had clips at a lower price on other agencies (a la carte, not subscription). I.e., say it was listed at $150 USD on Pond5,
but then had it listed at $25 on another site.  Then Pond5 would change it to $25 on the pond5 site.

This is all not logical. I dont know what they answered you there.
If you see $25/HD and $27/4K, then 4K should cost $50 and not $27.
I can't set prices for HD in my Pond5 account if I uploaded a 4K video. I need to separately upload another HD and ask Pond5 to connect the two videos. Also, I cant set the price for HD below $25.

Well you can set the price in general to what ever you want, but if you sell your clips elswere for lower you will get an email from P5 with a friendly reminder to ajust your price matching the other prices again.

But i went exclusive with P5 1 year ago, with a port of more than 10K clips, and i make already much more than i ever did before, so for me this was totaly worth it, so i can only recommend it. Because if your exclusive you can set the price as high as you want.

And if you create some great niche content which i startet doing lately, the income is even higher.

Because its true, despite having the minimum prices on P5 they still sell content for much lower sometimes with special offerings which you cant control. The only way out of this is to be exclusive and price your content at least arround 99$ better 199$ and for realy uniq footage 299$ works as well.

Good move going exclusive on Pond5.  I'm 100% Pond5 exclusive in stock videos too.  I don't recommend going all exclusive on Pond5 for everybody, but if you have good sales on Pond5 already, it makes sense to at least move your Pond5 bestseller to exclusive to get instant 50% royalty increase from those clips.  But of course it all depends on personal situations.  Some are doing well on Storyblocks and are happy giving unlimited downloads.

Im not anymore sure that it is good to be totally exclusive my older files do sell better non-exclusivelly spread on all agencies Pond5 exclusive with newer files and equipment are almost dead silent at the moment, I have better sales with porfolios where I havent uploaded more than three years and with less files

With my new "High price strategy", my RPD so far is about $100 royalty per clip on 60% exclusive rate.  70% of sales are "high price" bestsellers.  40% of sales are 4k or higher resolution.  Only 15% are regular HD price sales.  I should've done this sooner.

Also, for the first 6 days of sales report in April with the "high price strategy", I got a little less number of sales, but 2x the revenue compared to the first 6 days of sales report in March in which both had 4 weekdays.  I think this is the answer.  Take advantage of pricing power of your bestselling clips to increase revenue.

just keep going and hope to see that treng goes on further Im interested to see long term results from your strategy, because at the moment things on stock footage markets are not in our favor

You are right its not easy, but not participating in the race to the bottom has worked out for me, for only 1 high priced sold video, i would need to sell 15 low priced video to make the same amount. Thats just not happening.

That is really very impressive.

I think especially for my next editorial, not the ducks in the park, I will consider to raise prices.

The ducks will stay cheap, especially if they were taken with my iphone.

So, the number of sales per week didn't actually increase, but revenue nearly doubled since I started to price my bestsellers much higher to $149/HD and $199/4K from $74/HD and $149/4K.  On Pond5, I think if you want to make money, you got to price your clips at decent level and can push it higher for your bestsellers.  Buyers don't buy them because it's cheap.  Those cheapo buyers just pay $10/month and download on cheapo sites or get subscription plans on SS or AS.  My RPD is about $95 now since I started this high price strategy.  Some folks are pricing their clips at $25/HD and $27/4k and get like $10 for a download.  I think they're making a big mistake.  I'm surprised to see the number of high price HD sales is the same as regular price HD sale.  Only 707 clips out of my 30k clips are set at higher price.  So, the popular bestselling clips have pricing power we may be underestimating.

Your stats and work are very impressive. How do you grow your port with those numbers of clips because I recall looking some 6 or so months ago (maybe a bit longer) and there were like 16k clips. There's now nearly 30k clips. You do this full time?
