Title: The Stock Footage Thread of Interesting Stats and Facts
Post by: increasingdifficulty on April 11, 2019, 08:02
I'll start:

• 54.6% of the stock footage library over at Pond5 was added since the start of 2017. Pond5 opened in 2006.

That means it took about 11 years to add the first 6.8 million clips.

And a little more than two years to add almost 8.2 million clips.

---

This thread is for anyone who wants to post interesting statistics of facts that you have found either through search, reading annual reports, RELIABLE sources, or anything else that can hopefully be backed up. It can be anything from "there are 3 million duck clips at Shutterstock" to "the most successful frame rate choice at Adobe" etc.

This thread would focus on stock footage, but can be about any site, old or new, even shut down.

It would be nice if you could point to the source of the fact you choose, of course!

---

Source: Typing "itemgt:72827200" in the Pond5 search will give you roughly all clips posted since the beginning of 2017.

Fun Fact/Important Fact that everyone in stock photography/videography should note.

I made my first official sale in April 2017. Mark that on your calendar! It's an important date your children, your children's children, and your ancestors for millenia to come will need to take note of in their history books.

Plus - you can say you were here when you heard it first :)

Here are some facts from a newbie's perspective:

All articles googling stock begin with "How I earned "xyz" amount of money".

All Youtubers pushing Stock use gimbals and 4K devices, both a "must".

Old hard drive's material is ready money waiting to be redeemed.

Aerial stock sells crazy. 4K also. Big money in it. Hurry up.

Are you a hobbyist? No problem. Work hard and you can end up with a production company.

No editing skills? no worries, just trim the d*mn thing and upload it.

:P
