Title: Uploading color graded footage. Why or why not?

I'm not a footage buyer but I see quite a few clips heavily color graded when uploaded to the agencies. As you can also see in the SS trending video reel as well.

While it mostly fits into this reel I wonder if it is not limiting the sellers, as heavily graded clips cannot be easily re-adjusted to every film maker's/editor's needs.

Wouldn't it make more sense to upload neutrally, proper white balanced footage so that the buyers can add their look themselves (which might vary greatly from the color graded clips in the library).?

Your thoughts.

Why not just do both and see which sells better?

It is the same argument with stills. Theoretically, it would be a good idea to upload very neutral images that a buyer can tweak and manipulate to look however they want. It is pretty well known though that the best selling images tend to be bright, contrasty images with saturated colors and are "good to go" with little or no manipulation required.

I agree...
I would upload flat videos, but buyers don't want it that much.
Would be great to link a flat video with a color graded video so the buyer can have an idea of the way you taught or the style and colors, but have all the flexibility to color grade it too.
Maybe a long well known keyword like #nocolorgrdaded or #flatfootage would be an addition to help searches.

my most sold clips arethe ones that are very much color graded I don't know if this info can help

when i edit in FCP i have a grading present... so i look for neutral clips... but i upload graded clips ... go figure.
i agree with your premise.. makes sense. i might start uploading both and see what happens

Is anyone already uploading 2 versions of a clip (one graded/one neutral)?

I thought this is a big NoNo uploading "duplicates" and risking warnings or account closure due to violating submitters terms...?!?
