Title: Video codecs (boring, I know)
Post by: suz7 on June 20, 2018, 08:00
Hi,

Does anyone have any update on which codec (in after effects) can be used across all agencies?

I was using photojpeg but now that isn't an option. Or any recommendations for maybe two codecs (more time consuming but better than nothing) which are accepted by most agencies? I hear H264 isn't good for quality.

I'm using a PC so Prores isn't available.
TIA

Ive had a hard time too figuring out which codec would be the most suitable. And I'm a Windows user also. I had just about made up my mind to use photojpeg because it offers clients more flexibility in colour grading. However, just like prores, it's likely to create huge video files. Last time I tried to upload a large 4k video to different sites, it took two whole days which is ridiculous. And constant breakdowns and restarts. I don't want to repeat that painful process again. Looks like I'll be forced to use h264 instead unfortunately.
