I wonder what do you guys found annoying about stock footage sites you are on (with names) and what could be done better?
The example could be: long reviewing times, poor interface to manage uploads, lack of customer service etc.

I would like to hear both contributors and those who buy (if we have any on forum)  :)

Peace!

Peace!

This and the other video thread makes me infer that you're trying to start up a video stock site, or something.

I'm amazed at how small the previews are on Pond, SS, etc.  And they just aren't attractive sites to look at.

I am exclusive with iStock. My biggest gripe is that I wish they pushed video advertising more! Video still seems like a step child and I want more dollars to go to advertising it!

Thank you for your insights!

@Sean thats subjective topic I guess :)

@jjneff maybe there is no big demand for it? On the other hand I thought iStock has money to throw on marketing.

In addtion, commissions and pricing. Better commissions for contributors and no gutter pricing to cut the whole industry like Bigstock is doing.

My major issue is big 4k clips either cannot be loaded or disappear after uploading.

Mind to elaborate on the Bigstock issue? What are they doing exactly?

For the higher commissions, I guess there is a lot of money that need to go to marketing thats why commissions are not that crazy.

Which platform are you talking about?

At bigstock they are selling cheap videos, like for around a few bucks for full hd.

I am on Pond5 with a ton of severe weather, nice weather, events, environment, college and university students and on campus clips and a lot of it is marked editorial for obvious reasons. Well, good thing there is Pond5, try and get any of my content on SS, VB, Dissolve, etc, complete waste of time, it might sell on Pond5 but they don't want it at any of the other sites, probably because it's not fine art.

The lady at Dissolve actually told me after I sent a link to my Pond5 profile that this stuff would never sell and that they wouldn't have the bandwidth in their internet connection anyways if I tried to upload it.

SS declined almost everything, wanting a detailed, dramatic, newsworthy editorial caption showing date, time, location, what, when, where, and why......I am not writing a newspaper story here 24, 000 times over for each file thank you very much.

VB....they say they accept editorial yet decline everything, assorted reasons.

Good thing Pond5 is there but I was hoping to have a second host for my content given the market is a bit rough right now but nope.

So what annoys me the most?  other agencies that's what annoys me the most.  Probably my backup site will be....a selling direct option.
