Hi Leaf could you remove GL from the Microstock Poll Results

Some people seem to be submitting sales revenues which is clearly impossible seeing as they closed down.

Good bye GL. They owed me about $35 when they rudely closed their doors in my face...

Likewise both Cutcaster and Stockfresh are both gone but can still be voted for in the monthly poll.

GL closed?  When did that happen?  I stopped uploading there probably ten years ago due to low sales but still had an unpaid balance that I guess is going to remain that way.  So now they just slink off into the night without even a goodbye?

The owner took our money and ran back in April  :(

BTW this months Microstock Poll graph looks incredibly weird with massive upticks for Shutterstock iStock & Envato is someone fiddling the vote?

Thanks, somehow I missed that.  I only contributed there for about a year before I realized it wasn't going to be worth the effort and took them off the upload list more than 8 years ago.  Looks like I had almost $21 there so not a big loss but still annoying.  Which one is next?

While you're at it you might as well remove FeaturePics since they also are gone.  Thanks for all your work on the site!

It's a poll that people take on a voluntary basis, thus already flawed. There are people who have a personal agenda to like or not like some agencies, so they will up or down vote them. Years ago, I suspected that one of the smaller agencies had shills voting them up, and posting to the forum, to make it look like a better place.

I suppose if you expect that bias and cheating is fairly distributed, then that adjusts and everything is equal. But I will say, the latest agency that people love to hate, is still on top of the Down Votes, to sting them. So? Why would anyone vote for a close agency, or last I looked, four people did? I lost confidence.

It's a poll, it's relative, and the measures are unscientific, for entertainment purposes.  :) I don't vote, because I'd just bring the numbers down. There's something nice I do for everyone?  ;)

Also since I went to Wirestock and there's no vote, because it's multiple agencies, all of those dollars are not in the poll for those agencies.

Thanks Leaf, it's still interesting. The old data analysis from your survey was also outstanding.

A lot of sites making the pivot to video nowadays

So if I move to doing videos does that increase my $$$

I meant it as a euphemism for dying. Think it comes from sites sinking cash pivoting to video content off the back of fake engagement stats released by Facebook or YouTube, and going under as a result.

at least for me that describes my business--- it's fading away. Thanks for more insight.

Another big yes as they try to sell, that the modern phone people are interested in video not text. I keep thinking it's just me, but I'd rather read something, instead of watching a video, that's a waste of time. Maybe I'm not such an old fart after all, and these stats are starting to show up as lies.

Follow the money...

It's a shame about GL. The old owners were awesome, but the new staff really did seem to disappear in the middle of the night with our money. I can't say it was a lot, but there was some. At the same time, they bought into a messed up game that needs some serious overhaul.

Older thread with some financial data for GL stock when the new guy bought it and changed the name from Graphic Leftovers.
https://www.microstockgroup.com/graphic-leftovers/glstock-does-not-pay/25/

Someone else posted his personal information or whatever they could find.

Just to make it easy for anyone who doesn't want to read all the old threads. Mr. Shapiro put the site up for sale, opening bid was $5,000 and got no offers that I know of. Then he put it up for sale again, at a higher price, and it didn't sell. Then he pulled the plug and that's where no one got anything, because the company went out of business.

I don't know enough about the laws, but I'd assume that anyone buying the business, wouldn't just get the assets, the software and the data, but they would also get the debt. There's a big problem with that if (hypothetically) I wanted to buy GLstock, and get a bank loan, because the lender would require full disclosure and financial data. How do you pay off the outstanding debt, with an income in the hundreds a month? And then make enough of a profit to keep the business liquid itself?

Unfortunate because it seems that for being one of the small agencies, some people actually liked the place.
