I have 0 sales and they have a few of my best sellers. How is GL doing for you and how big is your portfolio and what type of images?

I have 200 photos, but no sales. Not sure if I want to upload the other 400

Ok, I know you have great images Jens, so thats no hope for me then. I think I am going to close my account. 123 DP and PD each bring me a tenner per month, which is also really annoying. But 0 sales for 2 months is reeeeeeeeealy low.

I have 165 there, and I get 1 or 2 downloads monthly. Most I got is about $8/month

Thanks Poncke..

I think Ill wait and see for a couple of months.
But my recent priciple is to not have photos with low earners or annoying agencies.

However GF does not annoy me,  I actually like them, they should just sell more.

A low earner, but the easiest site to upload to.

Only 266 photos online for me, lots of food shots.  Sales are minimal for me but I generally see some activity almost every month including a couple of nice sales at the higher pricing in Feb.  It's easy to upload and they show fair treatment of contributors so I have no problem putting my photos up there in hopes of seeing the site grow.

I think helping the smaller fair trade sites increase their image library is a vital step towards helping them succeed.  Last year I was searching for a specific type of image for a promotional piece I was doing for my husband's business.  We just needed a single image and I searched first on the sites like GL that I wanted to support.  We ended up purchasing from BS since we just couldn't find the right image on GL, SF, etc.

The more we can support these sites by helping build the image library the more likely it is that buyers will make them a destination because they can repeatedly find the images they need.

Don't give up on them- I have low expectations thus when a sales happens I am happy.  Recently, I have been getting a few sales each month thus showing a positive for me...

Not many sales, 23$ so far this year but so easy to upload to that I will stick with them.  No catagories and no linking releases makes uploading easier than at any other site.

Sales are low but they've been recommended to all the exclusives that ditched the crown in recent months.  That will dilute our earnings but hopefully will make them more attractive to buyers in the long term.

Can't see a reason to drop them, low earners will never make it if too many people have no patience and leave.  They pay 52% commission and I'd rather see them getting more buyers than sites that are giving us a lot less.

250+ images.

[sound of crickets chirping...]

Because they're known as straightforward and easy to deal with, they're probably getting a big rush of photos being pulled off of IS.   Which is probably why my sales, which were occasional at best, have gone to zero.   Maybe they'll pick up new buyers as they get better known.

Sites like this deserves our marketing efforts!
Every customer here mean less on IS and more money in our pocket!
This site belongs to contributors' 50%+ club!

Imagine what 30000 contributors can do with sinergy effect campaign of promotion site like this in the same time!
Those actions can be our weapon against greedy agencies!
Fight for your money and our friends like GL!

only made 122$ (47 sales) in 2012 but if there is one agency beside SS that I love to upload and support is really GL, wish them the best and really hope they continue to grow, they deserve it and so do we!

I have 700+ illustrations. Looks like about 30 sales since 2010. Upload is easy and submission is effortless. I like the site. I hope they grow and we make more sales.  ;D

GL is doing pretty well for me. I was doing better with them earlier on, but still see regular sales and frequent payouts.

I really don't think most people fully appreciate just how much of an impact we can have. But it does work, and if more people helped out with promoting good companies, we'd see a shift in the business.

I've personally referred 24 new buyers (who bought credits) to StockFresh and a handful of buyers to GL (I promote SF more, just prefer them myself but like GL also). Imagine if each one of us referred 20-30 buyers to these 50% companies?

I'm 0.08$ away from my first payout, took me a few years to get there, but like others have said, upload is easy, so I'm sticking with them.

Really excellent points Karen.  Right now the bulk of the money comes from larger sites that don't always treat contributors well.  If we support the fair trade sites, over time, hopefully more buyers will migrate there.

Thank you all for your guidance.

I agree with everyone who said 'Give them a try' or 'Don't give up on them'. GL is a good earner for me, two sales today so far.

Just had a little upload glitch that was new to me so I sent them an e-mail. They responded almost immediately and help me resolve my issues which seemed to be on my end. 4 helpful support e-mails in less than 40 minutes. Try that with one of the other sites!

They are a steady earner for me and one of the first sites I upload new stuff too. If you are looking for a site to support as the dark-horse with a chance of overtaking the big guys someday, I would recommend them. Don't give up on GL these guys are great!

GL doesn't product much for me yet, but I did manage to make $23 yesterday, for a 40 something dollar sale. This would be a fantastic site if they keep the pricing this way and attract buyers and don't change the commission rules on us once they are flying high.

Having only 858 FILES and 47dl so far. Quit uploading there mainly because of their "We are not interested in this image. Thank you for submitting" The files are just fine for IS and SS but not for them so bye bye GL see you next life!

Very slow sales.  Perhaps two per month on average.  Still, easy upload and no point removing what's already there.  One of the last to get new work, after (and only if) it's been accepted elsewhere.  When some slow time comes along and I'll review new files to see what they may like.  Then throw it up and see what sticks.

I had a great December (well, $11, so it's all relative), but Jan-Feb-Mar together was less than $3.

I wonder why these decent-paying sites can't gain some market share. Do they never advertise? Are they all asleep?

I think there's probably some earnings dilution going on, as so many exclusives drop the crown and upload their portfolios to GL.

Its hard to persuade buyers to switch from the big sites.  Its not an unusual problem, Amazon and Ebay make it difficult for smaller sites to get enough customers to be competitive with them.

It looks like lots of buyers have left istock but most of them have gone to SS.  Hopefully the big boost to the GL collection from all the former exclusive portfolios will eventually attract more buyers but I think it might take several months.

i remember reading some comments from the owner of GL here.. saying the google search images had greatly reduced traffic to their sites?

but I am not really understand is it related to the sales..

I always try to upload there if i remember..but sometimes got rejection like we don't need this files..and it seems there are some uploading limits also. It mess it up sometimes when i just ftp and didn't realize of the limits.

Anyway, it is a good sites with layout and interface..just ftp and rest it to them. I did have few extended license sale with them, that's mean the buyers are some honest guys out there!

Sales has dropped tremendously which I believe is due to new google image layout. I used to get a few sales once a while but these few months have beennn empty...........i think GL should concentrate on getting more traffic from other sources instead of Google.

but i still don't understand why the google images search will affect them that much?

To my understand, if those people will steal the image and they won't buy it at all.

Like they steal the image for their own usage, but if a designer works for a company the designer won't care about spending time to look for a free image and save the money for the company.

I also see a big drop in GL, which i don't understand it.

i think they need to step up their search functionality to get more buyers to commit to their site. Right now, i dont even know if there is a thing as best match or popular or new images. Did some random searches and the results aren't impressive at all. I am not sure if the quality content is just not there or the search system isn't all that complex.

355 images up, 2 months, 0 downloads, yes the upload process is easy, high acceptance ration, submit and forget, but whats the use of having my portfolio up? Future potential? You never know what sells?

I also see a big drop in GL, which i don't understand it.

Google changed up the image search so that the same image wouldn't appear more than once in the search results. You used to see the same image several times in the results, now it is likely to appear only once, usually from the site where it was indexed first or the site that Google deems more important.

You used to see the same image from SS, DT, 123, GL, and others in the results, now it may only appear from one of those agencies. GL typically isn't one of them.

Google image search is a blessing and a curse. While it's a great way for ignorant people to steal images, it's also a great way for people to find the image they want to buy. Google image search is very important to us microstockers.

$18 last year!

If it wasn't so easy to upload I wouldn't bother. May get a payout before I retire.

Nice people.  They like my photos - put many of them in the "GL Collection".  Commissions are reasonable.

Sales? Well....right now it's quieter than a Herman Cain campaign office.  But I have hopes for the future.

Sales have been pretty steady. I get a payout every month. They might have slowed down a little bit lately, but I haven't really been uploading. I wouldn't mind if they brought the $20 tier back. I'd like to bump my prices up there just a little bit more to get them on par with my other top sites.

Sales have improved a lot for me in the last 2 months.  I did nearly 20$ there in March and nearly 30$ in April. The average before was only about 10$ a month.
