I never had much sales on GLStock, but December and January have been surprisingly good for a low earner (especially considering their RPD). Has anyone else experienced a sudden rise in sales or am I just lucky?

You're just lucky. :D
For me they have been dead in the water for months.

I had two sales on the same day this week.  Most ever.

First sale in 6 months last week (52c) so yes there's a sudden rise!

I have had three sales in January, it was unexpected

As I had no sales last year I asked them if there was some problem with my portfolio.
They promised me that from January 2014 things we go better.

If this site really sales it could become the best one: easy to upload, good commissions, etc

Let's see!

For me this is the only agency that I have ever joined which after almost a year still hasn't sold a single one of my images.

It's looking decent this month. I uploaded a lot recently though, so it might be a little below my expectations. They've always been solid for me though.

1 sale, which was surprisingly an infinite % rise over the last couple of months

Oh wait  I just checked, and I'd forgotten that I did have 1 sale earlier in January.

That's vastly better than Macrografiks where I see I've had exactly 7 views this month, on 150 photos.

They did mention last year that the new Google Images layout was taking away lots of traffic. So it's not your portfolio ;)

But you're right; easy uploading, good commissions...It's still a site that deserves our support, no matter the number of sales.

I also like GL, and luckily, I've sold a couple images on January, I was losing a bit of my faith in it.

Well okay, at least if sales are > 0 ;)

Unfortunately my sales graph there looks a little like a sperm. It is swimming to the left, and not too vigorously since the tail is almost flat against the 0 axis. only 2 absolute 0 months since 2011 though. I would like to see sales pick up there, they seem to have like a slightly different type of photo than the standard microstock and accepted a number of images that I liked and many sites didn't. I do remember them mentioning the change to google search really hurt them, it would be nice to see them pick up again.

Closed my account yesterday and got the 13$ I made in 12 months paid out. That was kind of them.

I had submitted my backlog of 500 images and noticed about 150 rejections for LCV. Images selling fine on Shutterstock and elsewhere.

After 5 sales in one year of 'trying them out', that was kind of the straw.

You did well with $13! Someday I hope to reach the double digit sales... ???

2 sales in a month actually - pathetically - meets my minimum requirement for keeping photos at an agency.  Like you guys, I'm removing my stuff from sites where I'm getting no sales.

I totally get the frustration of being rejected for LCV on photos that are known sellers elsewhere.  To be fair, though, GL started out aiming for the niche market of 'objects' and only later began accepting some 'people' shots, so maybe they're selective in ways that others aren't.  I think we need new sites that have a unique focus and aren't just selling everything to everyone, and competing on nothing but price,

I've quit submitting to SS (reasons detailed elsewhere), quit IS, and no longer get any sales on Alamy.   I thought I'd try to piece together some sort of hobby/small income from sites that pay reasonably and aren't just looking for new ways to shaft us.  GL is still one such site, but at this point I'd need 10 more like to make it worthwhile doing more photos.  I had hopes for MacroGrafiks but that's gone nowhere.

Yes, I had similar experience when I was submitting to GL about a year ago.  Too many rejections overall compared to other agencies AND including content that was selling at least reasonably well on other sites.  In frustration I stopped uploading for many months.  However more recently I'v started uploading again.. mainly because they have a more fair trade approach to contributors in commissions, and whatever (little or more) sales one makes there only add some value.  I think they're a good team who respect contributors, and contributor support will only strengthen their marketing in a positive way in the longer run.  For the moment they sell little (at least my stuff).  But we need agencies like them to succeed more and more.  Just my 2c  :)

I don't understand why some of us, me included have had some unexpected sudden sales

I suspect GL to be themselves the buyers of these images
Some "marketing" operation to show us that the site is in good health :D

That seems silly. If anything, I would guess that they have made an effort to attract photo buyers. They have had a healthy buying community for illustration for a while, but their photo buyers have always been fewer (or it seems that way from reports).

I've seen this happen in reverse with other agencies. Fotolia used to be terrible for illustration, then picked up after a few years. GL started out with a focus on illustration and hasn't had photos for that long.

To attract buyers you have to propose them some (new) material to sell.
If contributors stop to upload because they feel that they lose their time uploading on this site you have to do something to attract contributors too.

As I had no sales for almost one year I decided to stop to upload to them till I would not have at least some sales
When I have got these sales few weeks ago I have started to upload again

Let's see
