When doing an illustration does it have to be in CMYK for the sites or can you work in RGB? The colors choices are so limited in CMKY. Was wondering if it matters if you do these in RGB?

I use CMYK colors but I think all agencies will also take RGB.

Always work in CMYK, but the JPG previews must be RGB. The vector files is good to remains CMYK in term of print.

If you don`t save your JPGs as RGB, your work will look like on Thinkstock, with weird colour style. Try for yourself to save the same vector as RGB and the as CMYK, and you`ll see the difference.

I have maybe 99% of illustration in CMYK but the most important thing is that you dont combine (mix) RGB and CMYK or other eg Pantone colors in you illustrations.
You can make illustration in color space what you want but dont mix color spaces in one illustration.
First at all delete all predefined swatch colors from that window because there are mixed us RGB, CMYK Pantone an other color spaces and define you own color swatch.
Pesonally I dont open this window. I have template with square colors and gradients which I use so I pick them from my own template.

It really depends on what the market you wish to create for.... I would say most of my stuff is CMYK but i do make designs/illustrations specific to web/tv/screen usage so i go RGB. So my designs and illustrations ratio is something like 70% CMYK and 30% RGB. Even when I work in RGB mode, i always keep in mind for the print side with minimal shift in color but this is only learned thru experience. I almost always let the buyer know what kind of file they are getting whether its global process cmyk or rgb...
