Can I get some feed back on what is good for creating 3D toons?

Hm
Try Cinema 4D, wery poverfull but complex for 3D.
For you stile of work try Toon Boom Studio, is vector based
or Application called "Pencil" but I think it is for Mac only. Both of them are like classic 2D animation and they are very easy to use.

It depends on what you mean by '3D toons'. You might have a look at Poser/DAZStudio, it might be what you are looking for.

I'm bringing this back to life as I have not found what I'm looking for.
Been in hospital for awhile.

I need to find a 3d program for dummies. A basic program for Mac that someone with brain fog could use to learn the basic. Simplicity and lots of basic tutorials is what I need.

Any feedback appreciated.

If you mean "cartoons", why should they be 3D and not just 2D? Or are you looking for a cartoon 3D model?

I think I named the topic wrong. I need a simple to use 3d program, that is easy to learn, for someone who has constant severe brain fog.
Maybe a stepping stone program...need basic, basic, basic step by step tuition. Oh and it has to be Mac. :S

You really failed to clarify your specific needs. Are you looking for a modeling program in which to build characters?

If so I would suggest Hexagon or Silo, and there's always Blender which is free open source.

Be aware that 3D, any program, comes with a higher than expected learning curve if you intend to build your own models.

To me the easiest to learn out there is Strata 3D, but it comes with a price tag you may not be interested in paying.

For Hexagon, you can use the free Daz Studio as a renderer. Daz Studio is not a modeler, it is a staging and rendering program, and the render engine is pretty good. As long as your object is texture mapped, you can just import, set up lights, and push the render button.

There is something out there called Curvy 3D you might investigate. Never used it but the claim is that it's easy.

I just want to model and pose. Not animated...dose that help? Curvy 3D looks good but not Mac yet.

Check out this tutorial on modelling a low poly character. If it seems doable, then Blender is for you. It's available for Mac, and it's free. Be advised howebver that doing anything more in Blender (or any other 3D program) is very complex.

When you pose a 3d toon you need to rigg it with something to control it with.  (search for character rigging ) Otherwise you have to pull and squeeze the mesh til you go crazy.

The good thing is you dont have to draw a new one for each pose.

Its not even close to working with illustrator.  Its like comparing hieroglyphs with a Flatscreen:)

That VT I linked to a couple of post back is probably not the best for a beginner. This tutorial (written, not video) is an EXCELLENT introduction to modelling rigging and posing a simple character in Blender, and is a lot easier to follow and more detailed than the VT.

There's a pdf here.
