Hi all,

I got a lot vectors rejected by an agency and the reason is

Other concerns. Legacy Artboards: Make sure the artboards box is not checked when saving

I email them for more information and i was told:

We're sorry for any confusion. It looks as though much of your vector submission included this "Legacy Artboard prompt" or dialog box upon opening your files.

If you are using CS3 then what might be happening is that the file isn't being saved correctly.

You may want to check your options in "Save As." When you save your file to an eps format there is a small box to the left (in both mac and PC versions) that says "Use Artboards." Make sure that box is not checked and hit save. By leaving the box unchecked your image should open with out any issue.

I tried to google and check my CS3 save as option, i just don't see that 'use artboards' check slot. what could be the reason? i have no problems for all these files to be accepted in other agencies.

anyone can help? i am using ai CS3..

thank you.

hi anyone has an idea what to do?

i sent an email and i was informed that CS4 user may get the prompt message but not CS3 i am using, and i was advised to 'save as' again with the 'use artboards' unchecked. but in my CS3, i can't see the 'use artboards' checkbox at the 'save as' interface.

anyone knows how to call out this options?

thanks.

Nope, CS3 doesn't support multiple artboards, it's a new feature in CS4. So there's no "use artboards" checkbox either. What agency are we talking about here? I think the problem is at their part.

I also think the problem is on the agency's end, as the OP did not have problems posting to any other site.

It's Veer, he asked on another thread, and Ryan told him to email him directly, instead of posting the answer on this forum so that everyone might be able to benefit from it.

Here's the thread: http://www.microstockgroup.com/veer-marketplace/a-few-questions-about-veer-marketplace/

ya it is veer marketplace, the support is helpful and replied me with screenshots of how to click the 'use artboards' option. But i think there is not option for CS3.

I have quite a batch of vectors rejected and i wonder what i can do, i usually just get my vector done and then use crop tool to set the how i want the jpg look like and save as eps.

anyone has an idea? what make CS4 prompt that legacy artboard message to CS3 files?

Hmm... I'm not sure. What kind of file are you saving it to? EPS version 8?

Hi mtkang --

Adobe Illustrator CS - CS3 had the option of having multiple crops on a single artboard. Adobe Illustrator CS4 moved to multiple artboards rather than multiple crops. Neither multiple crops nor multiple artboards are supported by the wide range of vector programs used by our customers, so we ask contributors not to use them.

I think I've found a solution for users of Adobe Illustrator CS - CS3. Choose Object-->Crop-->Release. This will remove the cropping from the illustration, and the customer will not be prompted by the Legacy Artboards prompt. Users of Adobe Illustrator CS4 can make sure that the Use Artboard option is unchecked in the Save As dialogue box when they're saving their EPS files.

Hope this helps.

I will try your method and see how is it. But i don't think every CS3 users are going to change that for CS4 users. am i doing something incorrect that prompt the message?

By the way, how should one crop the image? i usually use the crop tool and use photoshop to open the eps files for jpg image.

If I want a jpg with a bit of space around the artwork I drag a rectangle with no stroke or fill.
