Title: regarding older Adobe software.
Post by: k_t_g on August 30, 2021, 22:38
Those who use older software, should we be concerned?
Found this thread conversation intriguing and concerning.

Sample post Aug 28, 2021"Also, expect your perpectual software to stop running sometime soon because Apple or Microsoft will change the system and it will no longer run. Plan for subscriptions."

Thoughts?

Do not upgrade your system.

I have one perpetual and subscription both and works fine on W10.

Yeah but then how will your system stay safe from getting hacked and other?

The only way I can think of is having those things on another computer that doesn't go on the internet. Then that would solve that issue. Other then that , yet another pain in the @ss to deal with.

I understand you wouldn't want to start with Adobe subscription when you've legitimately purchased CS6, but that means you'll have to put up with outdated software, newer files that can't be opened in older versions, lots of compatibility issues, older bugs. As long as it works for you, that's great. But if you keep running into issues, maybe it's better to make the jump.

If you really don't want to use Adobe CC, you can always try free or lower-priced alternatives.

I cannot get your point when you say system being hacked?
You are asking for adobe versions, how does this relate to hacking?

Anyways, to your answer, yes, its always good to keep those files separately which do not require internet connection.
Additionally, always use a total security antivirus and stay secured.

I’m running CS6. I only have one client left, so I will not be getting the CC. I don’t update my system either. I’m running Mavericks, and everything works just fine. I have no need to open newer files. I suppose one of these days apple/adobe won’t be happy with that and will bugger something up so that I can no longer even make the small amount of extra freelance money that I do. And so it goes.

I could not do without creative suite (PS and LR), for the updates and useful features that improve my workflow. But, I use Illustrator cs2 for vectors for many years (issued 16 years ago), and this one still works perfectly on windows10.

I get the feeling this was a topic authored by an Adobe insider who wants to sell current Adobe tools.  8)
80-90% of online agency material is stock from years (many years) ago. Still offered to buyers and still selling. I have images that were worked on by PS6 and still doing just fine.
Until agencies tell me otherwise, I'm sticking with the same old Adobe programs that got me to where I am now. This is a business where you spend your money very, very carefully.

I guess I'll go GIMP when my current setup stops working.
