Question one - how many of you have used or use a light box for tracing.

Question two - how many of you would use a light weight led tracer that you can either pug into a usb or power supply, you can sit it on your lap, has no heat and is lit by led. Easy to transport

Question three - it comes in a4 up to a3...what would you pay for it?

I have a 10x12 Porta-Trace that I like. I don't see a lot of people talking about lightboxes, but I use mine all the time. I joke often that illustrators are just professional tracers. I could see getting one that was more portable if I traveled more. What kind were you looking at?

I have the opportunity to market a new product.
It's only about 7mm thick.
I just wondered if there is a market.
It's great for clipart

OK. I understand now. Feel free to send me more info when you can. As far as your questions:

1: Yes, I have a lightbox that I use often.

2: Right now, I don't travel much, but might if I ever built a mobile studio, a portable lightbox would be a must have.

3: That's a good size. I think about the size of a piece of paper is ideal. Most lightboxes are between $30 and $50, so somewhere in that range. It depends on the quality.

They would retail from around $150 to $180 for the first size. It depends on the quantity I can order. I think I'd just start with the A4.
I'll probably set up an Ebay site and promote it through Youtube.

I could buy a second hand wacom on ebay for that kind of money and trace straight onto the computer!

A4 LED wacom hmmm.  I'm talking about a tracing light box not a digitizer.

This is the current competition - http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=tracing+box+&_fscr=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m19

I have a 12x18 lightbox, which I rarely ever use. I prefer comping in Photoshop. The LED tracer looks good if that's your workflow, but I think it's too pricey for an A4 size.

May be better to market to comic book artists?
