Author Topic: Unacceptable: No watermark and 1500x1500 images on VECTORSTOCK (Read 7287 times)

I just noticed that Vectorstock changed, they now offer a responsive website and show VERY LARGE images at 1500 x 1500 with a screenshot on my 4k screen. Also the image preview offer NO WATERMARK: see this image for example (not mine): https://www.vectorstock.com/royalty-free-vector/super-hero-bubble-tea-character-cartoon-vector-21279714 or preview: https://cdn5.vectorstock.com/i/1000x1000/97/14/super-hero-bubble-tea-character-cartoon-vector-21279714.jpg. First off for web anyone can steal this as 1500x1500 or 1000x1000 at high quality is more than sufficient. Secondly anyone with illustrator can convert it to vector in 3 clicks... Why would agencies do that? Am I the only one who thinks this is abusive?

I am seriously considering removing my portfolio from there.

Really bad news, you are right that this is completely unacceptable. Contributors need to get in touch with them ASAP.

Unbelievable! I just saw it. (I don't know how I missed it for so long) I just wrote them an e-mail. If they don't plan to fix this I am closing my account with them.

I randomly clicked around. This image has watermarks.

Though I clicked around some more and all of the other images I looked at were without watermarks.

Thanks for the warning. I don't submit there and I'll make sure that I never do.

Thank you for this information!
You are not alone, I also think it is very problematic, and it might be better to delete my port there. I just wrote to support about it.
I will let you know what their answer is.

I wrote to support as well. If this is not going to change ASAP, I'll have to close my account. This is totally unacceptable. Images thieves are everywhere and copyright infringement is already widespread.

I just got answer from support, here it is. So no need to worry

"There is an option to turn the Watermarks On or Off in your account,

https://www.vectorstock.com/account UPDATE TAB > Preview Watermarking [ ON / OFF ]

Please allow 24 hours for the Watermarks to updated,

We have given the options as many other stock site are now using better quality images without Watermarks and a number of contributors wanted this option. The image without watermarks also receive more paid downloads.

Thanks Zsofi I just enabled watermarking too. I rarely visit their site so I didn't even notice.

Got the same reply back, it's turned on thankfully. Weird that they'd turn it off by default though.
