I found this link explaining how to upload vectors to each site. http://www.microstockgroup.com/knowledgebase/doku.php?id=vector I do not however understand dreamstime. It says to upload a jpg first, then an eps file. When do you upload the eps file? After the jpg gets approved or after the jpg shows up in the unfinnished section( I am using ftp to upload)?

Also fotolia it says svg file. What is that? I am only familiar with the eps file.

Finally I would like to say it has been very frustrating trying to learn how to upload vectors to the different sites. Some of them tell you exactly what to do and others there is no information! Thank goodness for the microstock group!!!!  ;D

Thats partly why I am only shooting them to SS right now. Learning one at a time. Build up then try to upload 5 to another.

I uploaded to just shutterstock first to see if they got approved because I wasn't sure I had saved everything correctly. They approved them so then I uploaded to istock because they had instructions of how to upload. The other sites have nothing, or if they do I couldn't find it. I like to always upload the same files to all the sites every week though. Otherwise it gets very confusing. So this process has been frustrating! It is hard enough to teach yourself a program!

Let me copy my cheat sheet :D
123rf: jpg + eps (from the site only, ftp doesn't work for vectors)
BigStock: eps only
CS:  jpg + zipped eps
FT: zip (jpg + eps) they don't need svg anymore. I upload jpg also in a zipp cos then itpc loads up on the site
DT: jpg attach eps. When you have a pending jpg file go to edit page and upload eps from there (I think it says upload additional formats).
IS: jpg + eps (additional zip possible)
MP: jpg (they dont accept vectors)
SS: jpg + eps
StockXpert: jpg + zipped eps (well you don't need this one anymore)

Uploading Vectors can be a nightmare and it has taken me a while to work out a system that works.

Dreamstime, upload the jpeg then check in the "unfinished file" section, each file has a "file ID" copy and paste that to each of the relevant eps files then upload the files via ftp into the "additional folder"

Fotolia, Forget about SVG (they tried that then allowed eps upload) just compress each jpeg and eps together...with the same name (into one file) then upload via ftp as normal.

The SVG file was what that freeby program inkscape saves to so you can come back and make changes if you need to...when saved to EPS in this software, then I can open them up in Photoshop Elements and it doesn't recognize SVG files...which I might add inkscape always locks up when I try to save to EPS. I tryed uploaded some of the EPS files I saved to DepositPhotos and it came back as an error..so I just saved to jpg and uploaded them.

This looks like a pretty good cheat sheet. Photoshop and Illustrator action scripts are your friend. So are Automator scripts for the Mac (If you use a Mac. I'm sure the PC has something similar).

And here you thought it was going to be all fun and games drawing pictures.  :D

Thank you all so much for the valuable info! It's nice to know that there are still people out there that are willing to help out someone other than just themselves!  ;)

Well I found some easier way how to upload vectors - I'm using Isyndica - that's a tool for uploading to various microstock agencies, it will generate smaller previews, zip your eps or whatever is required on each microstock agency.

My review on my blog - iSyndica - easy multiple upload on several microstock sites

That would be a nice alternative but what is the cost of this service? Especially for those of us that are considering branching out into stock vectors? Right know with my photos they all go FTP

Well the price is quite small - 1 cent per upload of one vector image (eps + jpg) to one agency. I know, that you can upload it for free, but MY TIME is much more expensive :) You can try it for free - they have a starter version for free.

This may be a stupid question but would you be required to upload everything through them or just what you can't because of time contrants. DO they also have a limit of required uploads a month to do it at the pennies per upload? I assume they charge a membership fee or something to that effect.

Hi,
everything is described under the "pricing" link on the iSyndica website. You can either use free subscription (limited functionality) - it is for free and you will get 100 credits / month + buy other credits for 0.01$ per one credit. Or you can buy some better subscription + buy additional credits (again per 1 cent).
