hi there...
I think the files that sell more are the ones packed with icons, symbols, flourish stuff, complex crests and the like... The super complex flourishes with banners and crests sell a lot...

however note that There are simple files selling as much as complex ones....

I think there are certain types of illustration that aren't
selling much because the micros are saturated with them...The only thing I think is not selling that well is illustration with girls shopping, like some cartoons...

It is hard to say...
Maybe you can come up with something so different and create a new trend....
that can happen....

I think Robin is right!  I used to do a lot of "girls shopping" images all the way back to 2004 and they used to be the big sellers!  Now I see tons of design elements being best sellers.  The sad thing is they all sort of look the same, but from a stand point of what is useful I can see why they work.

One thing to consider though is that they are hard to get accepted at least on iStock since they are getting pretty saturated with these too!  I really wish I had a crystal ball to see what the next design trend will be! :)

I agree that buttons, icon sets, backgrounds with lots of grunge and flourishes sell well. That's why I focus on creating those stuff. However, backgrounds with grunge and flourishes are not easy to get into istock, the icon sets are ok with istock. Shutterstock accepts most of them and based on the popular images of the week, the backgrounds with flourishes are the best... I still have to learn how to create those hahaha!

try to make abstract art logos. they are in demand
But bear in mind that none of the main sites let buyers use files as logos, for obvious reasons of non-exclusivity.

Hi Karim. At the moment I would recommend to pay attention to the topic of isometry in the vector. Isometric illustration is hot theme now.
